Understanding what may be contributing to a child's developmental, learning or behavioural presentation is central to the INPP approach. Alongside comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment, factors such as neuromotor development, postural control, sensory processing and retained primitive reflexes can form part of that picture for some children and young people.

Sally Goddard Blythe, Director of INPP Ltd, has written about ongoing debate around how the term Autism Spectrum Disorder is defined and applied, and why understanding what underlies presenting behaviours, rather than relying on a label alone, matters for effective support.

This does not mean these factors explain every presentation, or that addressing them changes a diagnosis. It means that a fuller picture, built through careful, structured assessment, can help professionals and families better understand an individual's needs.
