It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alison Ingham on Tuesday, 2nd June at MacMillan Cornhill Centre in Perth, following a two-year battle with cancer, aged 59 years.

Born in Horbury, West Yorkshire, where she worked for 21 years as a receptionist and PA for Chas W. Harrison Auctioneers, Alison moved to Ballinluig in 2009 with her husband Brian, and children George, Evelyn, Harry, and Emily.

She was well known in the Pitlochry area having worked at several local businesses including the Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Blair Castle, Heathergems, Infinity Blu Dental Care, Gaulds Funeral Services, Ballinluig Childcare, British Red Cross Shop and latterly the Jacobite Café at Killiecrankie Visitor Centre. Alison also spent many years as a volunteer helper with the Vale of Atholl Pipe band assisting at Highland Nights and helping to run fundraisers.

All who knew her speak of her sense of fun, kindness and generosity and she was a valued friend to many in the community.
Alison leaves her husband Brian, children George, Evelyn, Harry and Emily, siblings Martyn, Gary and Julie, along with extensive family of in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Friends, colleagues, neighbours and acquaintances are warmly invited to Alison's funeral service which will take place at Perth Crematorium on Thursday, 25th June at 11.00am, followed by refreshments at McDiarmid Park's centenary suite, afterwards.

Rest in peace, Alison.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dr. Robert (Rob) Malpas on 5th May 2026, aged 76 years.

Born in Bexley, Kent, Rob devoted more than 40 years of his life to wildlife conservation and sustainable development across East Africa. From his early research on African elephants to his leadership roles with WWF and IUCN, and later through the Conservation Development Centre in Nairobi, he made a lasting contribution to conservation and to the people working to protect the natural world.

After retiring, Rob made his home in Comrie, where he became a valued member of the local community. He shared his knowledge and practical skills with local projects, supported Comrie Croft, and enjoyed his role as a backstage technician with the Comrie Amateur Dramatic Society. Rob will be remembered for his intelligence, kindness, generosity, and quiet determination. A loyal friend and mentor to many, he had a remarkable ability to solve problems, support others, and bring people together. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his brother, Hong Kong Professor, Emeritus John Malpas.

Friends, colleagues, neighbours, and all who knew Rob are warmly invited to a Celebration of his Life at Comrie Croft on Thursday, 25th June at 11:00am.

Headstone Safety Programme Demonstration - Braco Tuesday 5th June.

Dear All,

The Memorial Safety Team and Memorial Officer will be demonstrating our Headstone Safety Programme’s inspection process to the Braco community tomorrow at 10:00 am at Braco Steeple, FK15 9QG.

This will include an overview of how inspections are carried out, how memorials are assessed and classified as safe, unstable, or unsafe, and the notification process to lair owners.

These demonstrations will now take place regularly as the programme moves on to a new town or village. This will provide communities the opportunity to gain a clearer understanding of the procedures involved and to ask any questions they may have.

The Memorial Squad will be in attendance on site all day and would welcome your attendance at any point tomorrow, should anyone be interested in the programme.
