Windlesham Manor

Windlesham Manor Welcome to Windlesham Manor. We have been a family run care home for 50 years and one of the oldest in Crowborough.

Well, Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle found inspiration here and we hope you will too. Windlesham Manor is a family-owned and run care home for the elderly in the heart of beautiful Sussex countryside where Sir Arthur lived for many years and wrote many of his works. Here at Windlesham our philosophy is that you go on flourishing throughout life and we find our residents do just that. It may be the interes

ting activities that are arranged and participated in, our chef’s delicious meals or just simply that the house and it’s lovely grounds are the perfect recipe. You don’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to see it happening! A country house setting on the outskirts of Crowborough, East Sussex, close to Crowborough Beacon Golf Club and the Ashdown Forest. The former and much-loved home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, now sympathetically extended, retains much of its original character and provides excellent accomodation for up to 40 residents. Windlesham Manor has gained a reputation over a forty year period for the highest standards of residential care. Its full-trained staff emphasise that this is a home and not an institution where caring for loved ones is undertaken in partnership with families. Paying close attention to each individual’s unique and personal needs and enabling them to live as independently as possible is a core principle.

Some conversations are meant to be private, whether it’s a heart to heart with a grandchild or a sensitive talk with a doctor. By removing the need for a third party to “manage” the call, we restore the intimacy that makes these moments so special. It’s more than a tablet; it’s dignity in the palm of your hand. Read our latest new post on how we are restoring dignity through independent connection with the Loopeli system. Link in bio.

At Windlesham Manor, we love finding meaningful ways to bring joy and connection to our residents 💙
Recently, we built a nesting box for blue t**s in our beautiful gardens and set up a live camera feed straight into the main lounge, bringing nature right to everyone, up close and personal 🌿🐦
Now for the most exciting update… the eggs have hatched! We have had the privilege of watching mum and dad blue tit care for and feed their tiny newborn chicks. A truly magical glimpse into the wonder of nature ✨
A heartfelt thank you to our incredible care team, who always go the extra mile to create such special, enriching experiences for our residents.

What does true independence look like? It looks like this:
o ❌ No passwords
o ❌ No complicated setup
o ❌ No reliance on staff
o Loopeli allows our residents to call up to 16 pre-approved loved ones, view family photos, or listen to the radio—all on their own terms.

Moving into residential care shouldn't mean losing your private life. Standard video calls often require staff help and passwords, which can make a private chat feel like a public event. At Windlesham Manor, we believe in a "Resident-First" approach. Read our latest new blog post on our website latest news page, detailing how we are restoring dignity through independent connection with the Loopelisystem - AB.

🍀 St Patrick’s Day Celebrations at Windlesham Manor 🍀

St Patrick’s Day celebrations were in full swing at Windlesham Manor today! 💚

Our wonderful kitchen team pulled out all the stops, treating everyone to delicious homemade Irish soda bread served alongside a selection of Irish cheeses…and of course, a well deserved tipple of Guinness! 🍞🧀🍺

We also enjoyed some fun, Irish themed green “lucky” cupcakes, adding a sweet touch to the day’s festivities. 🧁✨

The highlight of the celebration was a spectacular musical performance from Jon and his guitar, bringing smiles, laughter, and plenty of sing-alongs! 🎶🎸

A fantastic day filled with great food, music, and even better company. Happy St Patrick’s Day to all! 🍀💚

What a fabulous Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea we had celebrating our wonderful residents! 💐☕
Our talented chef prepared an amazing selection of homemade treats including chocolate chip brownies, lemon drizzle cake, scones, croissants with egg & cress and cheese & pickle, palmiers, sausage rolls, Madeira cake and cherry cake. Everything looked and tasted absolutely delicious! 🍰🥐
To make the afternoon even more special, we were entertained by the fantastic singer Roger, who had everyone smiling, singing along and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere. 🎶
It was a lovely afternoon full of music, laughter and sweet treats, celebrating the amazing mothers and women who are such a special part of our home. 💖
