Found Outdoors CIC

Found Outdoors CIC Rewilding project set in 54 acres of Wiltshire woodland and meadows. Found Outdoors is an outdoor education project founded by us, Fiona and Rich Cassidy.

We focus on education, art, nature recovery, art and wellbeing, helping people of all ages (re)connect with the natural world 🌳🍃 In 2020 we packed in our jobs and bought 54 acres of woodland and meadows to help children and adults reconnect with nature through forest school, site visits, educational days and events. We work with individuals, schools, charities, universities and many other organisa

tions. VISITING FOUND OUTDOORS: For visits and what we're currently up to please see our website. In the near future we hope to host talks, film nights, multi day residentials and much more.

We had a fun Sunday with volunteers from .mammal.group making Pine Marten feeder boxes. Grassroots conservation at its best 😀

Under the watchful eye of ecologist Gareth Harris and thanks to pine marten champion Jason, Sam, Alice and Alana (our work experience student from Lackham ) we constructed 17 boxes.

They are made from a plan by pine marten experts . The food is placed in the box and the holes let the smell out. The martens sit on the shelf and lift the lid to get the food. During this time a camera on a nearby tree will hopefully get a clear shot of the pale bib marking on the martens chest. This allows individual identification of the animal.

These are made from timber that we fell and mill on site ourselves. They are larch, a non native species, which is being removed as part of our very careful continuous cover forestry (CCF) work. They are very resinous so should last a good long time. The boxes are destined for various super secret sites in the county!

Alana even had time to make a bonus bee hotel (not shown)!
