We'd love you to join us on Bluesky.

Meta has new policy - you can only post two links per month - which appears to be a way to force you to sign up to Meta One to bankroll their AI push.

Make what you will of this. We don't like the direction of these platforms but they have a virtual monopoly so leaving right now without a viable alternative would be tough for us as a tiny non-profit.

Bluesky is step one.

We've setup Found Outdoors as a project on iNaturalist.

This means if you're with us for an event or working with us you can join the project and your observations will be added and be a really valuable part of our data gathering!

Just search iNaturalist for ‘found outdoors’.

Why No Link?
From this month you have to pay Meta to use more than a two links per month in your posts. There's no comparable platform right now but we don't want to directly fund meta. The sooner we can leave this platform the better.

What a fab day at the Regenerative Foods Biodiversity & Regenerative Food Festival in Salisbury with our Found Outdoors and Wiltshire Small Rewilders hats on!

We met so many wonderful people and had a lot of really positive conversations - it was like the antidote to all the gloom on the news 💚

A huge thank you to everyone who came to see us and all the organisations we met Wiltshire Climate Alliance, Broken Bridges community project and many more.

It was our first stall at an event like this so we learnt plenty and really look forward to doing more.

Join astronomer Paul Hill under the dark skies at Found Outdoors for a brilliant evening of astronomy.

Featuring BIG telescopes, science experiments, REAL SPACESUITS, space rock and LOO ROLL*!

This is a fascinating interactive event of science and stars suitable for all ages. We provide the coffee and biscuits and fire and Paul brings his incredible knowledge of space.

Paul is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and a public outreach astronomer. He is part of the team that writes and presents the longest running space podcast Awesome Astronomy, has toured the country with his stage shows ‘Journey into Space’, ‘To boldly go...far far away’, and ‘Searching for Hairy Stars in the Messy Kitchen of the Sun’

SUPPER IN THE WOODS!

Thank you so much to everyone who came along to our inaugural supper event last week - we absolutely LOVED IT!

We’ve wanted to do a food event like this since forever, so it was fantastic to make it a reality.

Huge thanks to Grace, Bea and Jill from the Storehouse cafe and Bakery in Trowbridge for the food and flowers and Katya Cassidy from Good Day Café in Bath for the drinks and being such an all round pro!

We learnt a whole lot from running this event so cannot wait to do our next one even better. Keep an eye on our socials and mailing list for updates.

HANDMADE BENCHES AND TABLES
Plenty of guests were asking about the benches and tables that we had. These are all hand made on site from trees we fell and mill right here! They are constructed from slow grown larch (felled as part of our woodland management plan) so require no treatment - completely organic! Benches are about £150 and tables will be around £400 tbd. Drop us a DM for more info and orders..

AUTUMN BAT WALK 🦇

We had a great finish to our bat walks for the year with an equal all time record of 10 species observed 🎉

Massive thanks to everyone who came along and of course to Gareth and Lisa from the for their time and expertise. Also thanks to bat group volunteers Sam and Adrian along with work experience students Alana and Fen from Lackham college.

On Sunday we spent a lovely morning with The Wiltshire Spoon Club ‘spoonies’ in the autumn sunshine!

The Wiltshire Spoon Club is a free, monthly social (and very welcoming) group for anyone with a little carving experience and their own tools. And a love of coffee and cake ☺️
