πŸ’ƒ George England 🎢

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming George England, and what a wonderful afternoon it was.

😊❀️

There was plenty of dancing, lots of singing, and so many smiles all around. The atmosphere was fantastic from start to finish, with everyone joining in and enjoying themselves.

πŸ•ΊπŸ˜Š

George kept us entertained throughout, and it was lovely to see so many people having such a great time together. Thank you, George, for making the afternoon so special. It was truly a lovely event that everyone will remember fondly, and we are already looking forward to the next one!

The last few days on our dementia floor have been truly heartwarming.

πŸ’™πŸ’™

We have been washing pots, cleaning, setting tables, and simply enjoying doing everyday household chores. What may seem like ordinary tasks have brought extraordinary results, and we have been overwhelmed by how successful these activities have been.

πŸ’™πŸ’™

For many people living with dementia, familiar routines and meaningful activities can provide a sense of purpose, achievement, and independence. Household tasks often tap into long-held memories and skills, helping residents feel valued and involved rather than simply being cared for.

πŸ’™πŸ’™

Sometimes it's the simplest things that make the biggest difference. Seeing our residents enjoying these familiar roles has been a wonderful reminder that meaningful occupation and a sense of purpose are so important at every stage of life.

πŸŽ‰πŸ”” BINGO πŸ””πŸŽ‰

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Bingo afternoon on Tuesday! As always, there was plenty of excitement, concentration, cheering, and the occasional suspicious glance when someone seemed to be having a little too much luck!

πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚

Now, we do feel it's important to address the elephant in the room... our bingo caller. Unfortunately, she appeared to experience a brief and unexpected technical issue. Some may call it a temporary malfunction, others may suggest she simply got a little carried away with all the excitement!

πŸŽ‰πŸ˜†

There may have been a few mixed-up numbers, a moment of confusion, and perhaps a look of panic as the room collectively wondered whether B-12 had suddenly become G-57. Thankfully, after a quick reboot (and possibly a cup of tea), normal service was restored and the show went on!

β˜•πŸ€£

Despite the caller's brief encounter with system failure, everyone took it in great spirits, and the afternoon was filled with laughter, smiles, and plenty of good-natured banter. It's moments like these that remind us that it's not just about winningβ€”it's about coming together, sharing a laugh, and making wonderful memories.

πŸ€πŸ†

Thank you once again to everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon such a success. We look forward to seeing you all at the next Bingo session... and we are pleased to report that the bingo caller is now fully operational and ready for duty! πŸ€–πŸ˜‚

πŸ€πŸ‘– Trouser Ball Fun at Driffield Manor! πŸ‘–πŸ€

Yesterday(10th) we enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon of what was originally planned to be basketball, but somewhere along the way it turned into the much more entertaining game of Trouser Ball! πŸ˜„

πŸ‘–πŸ€

There was plenty of laughter, smiles, and friendly competition as everyone got involved and embraced the spirit of the game. Sometimes the best activities are the ones that don't quite go according to plan!

πŸ€πŸ‘–

We were also delighted to welcome the children and staff from Driffield CE Infant School, who joined us for the visit.

On Monday(8th), we had the pleasure of welcoming Sensory Stars, Dance, Movement and Music - Hull & East Riding to join us for the opening of the Humber Games. What a fantastic start to such an exciting event!

🎢✨

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the Olympic-themed session, which was filled with music, movement, laughter, and plenty of opportunities for everyone to get involved. The energy in the garden was amazing, and it was wonderful to see so many smiles as participants embraced the spirit of the Games.

🌧️ Magical Mystery Tour – 9th June 🌧️

We set off on a magical mystery tour today, but Mother Nature had other plans! Undeterred, we jumped on the bus and headed out, hoping the rain would eventually stop.

🌊😊

Although the weather wasn't on our side, we still had a great day. We enjoyed some delicious ice cream at Mr Moo's and spent some time watching the dramatic skies and rolling waves from Hornsea Foreshore.

🍦🌊

Not the adventure we expected, but sometimes the unplanned days create the best memories!

🎯 Humber Games – Archery Challenge 🏹

As part of the Humber Games, one of this year's challenges is archery. We all gave it a good go yesterday (8th), and it was great to see so many people getting involved and having a laugh while trying something a little different.

🏹🎯

Some of us were just happy to hit the target, while others were surprisingly accurate and clearly fancy themselves as Maid Marian! There were a few impressive shots on display, alongside the occasional arrow that seemed determined to explore the scenery instead.

🎯🏹

We were fortunate to have Angus Leckonby guiding us through the session. He was a great teacher, offering plenty of encouragement, helpful tips, and expert advice to archers of all abilities. Thanks to his patience and enthusiasm, everyone quickly gained confidence and improved their technique.

🏹🎯

It was a fantastic afternoon full of friendly competition, teamwork, and plenty of banter. Whether you were hitting bullseyes or simply enjoying the experience, everyone gave it their best shot and helped make it a memorable event.

🎯🏹

A big thank you to Angus and everyone who took part. We're looking forward to the next Humber Games challenge and seeing what hidden talents emerge next!

Yesterday, we had a fantastic opening to our Humber Games! We were delighted to welcome Angus Leckonby, a member of the GB Special Olympics team and a three-time Guinness World Record holder, who came along to support us.

πŸ…βœ¨

Angus showed the residents his medals and spoke with everyone about his incredible achievements, as well as his ambitions for the future. His visit was truly inspiring, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed meeting him and hearing about his journey.

βœ¨πŸ…

He then joined in with the archery games, much to everyone's delight! 🎯 We were also joined by the lovely Caitlin from Sensory Music and Movement, who got everyone moving and having fun (exercise is a bit of a shh word here at Driffield Manor!).
