Long time so see… again🙈

I just wanted to hop on quickly and say WOW😮 you guys have kept me a very busy lady over the last couple of months!! Between new and existing rehab cases, many upon many mid season routine appointments, and some spectacularly CUTE little doggies, I have had absolutely no time to get on here and get any fun educational posts or some little life catch ups out!

So, what I want to get up today, is that September AND October are already filling up🤩 which is music to my ears, but making it a little difficult to squeeze you lastminute.com individuals in😂 so please bare with me while I get out the remaining appointments for August and beginning of September.

I am still working through my waitlist with some Lisburn and surrounding appointments still available, and plenty of Bangor/ ards and surrounding still up for grabs throughout the month. So get in touch and get your name on the list!! Otherwise we’ll be taking bookings for 2027😅

Thank you all again for all the support, it truly means the world that you chose to trust the Equi-Formance team with your lovely lovely horse and doggies. And hopefully soon yourselves when I find time to tick off the next qualification on the list!

See you all again next month when I get time to sit down and get another post up😂😂😂

Hello hello!!!
I apologise for the radio silence these last couple of weeks, the diary has been totally WILD🙈
I just wanted to hop on while I’m waiting to head on holiday and give a brief update.
I will be away until Wednesday 5th, so replies to enquiries will be slower than usual (those of you who are awaiting a response for an appointment, these will be sent out this week, thank you for your patience❤️).
Caroline has been a very busy lady with all things newborn and toddler, so she won’t be seeing any clients for the foreseeable. All new clients and existing clients will see myself until she is ready to slowly ease back into work👶🏻!
Currently, I am operating a wait list of 2 weeks… but don’t let this stop you contacting the page as there are a limited amount of appointments available in areas that are already booked.

Below you’ll notice a little black dog… this is Winnie. She joined our family around 8 weeks ago now as a foster after a major orthopaedic surgery. She is doing so well and you’ll be seeing more of her soon🥰

Again, I want to say thank you to everyone for all your support and patience while we work through our ever growing list of things and appointments- we wouldn’t change it for the world, but the support means everything 🤗

I cannot put my love for this horse into words… she has taught and given me everything, yet she owed nothing to anyone! I am not me without this girl ❤️

Happy Saturday!! I just wanted to share this gloriously cute video of one of my lovely young clients that just lost the fight to some major sleepy thoughts after his physio yesterday🥹🥰❤️

(If we can pardon my questionable riding for a minute🤣)
Sandy absolutely LOVES to jump- and it’s really important to me that she gets to do what she loves- HOWEVER, it’s also my job to make sure her body is protected and ready for the explosive effort it takes to jump… and this is where physiotherapy practice is hugely underrated! My manual techniques and exercise prehabilitation approach makes sure we’re both safe and enjoying ourselves 🥰

One of the biggest myths I see in rehabilitation and strengthening programmes is that simply doing the exercise is enough.
It isn't.
Pole work is a perfect example. A horse can step over every single pole while travelling hollow, crooked, rushing, leaning on one shoulder, or avoiding loading a weaker limb.
Yes, they completed the exercise.
No, they probably didn't achieve its purpose.
As physiotherapists, we're not prescribing exercises because they're trendy or because they look impressive on social media. Every exercise has a specific goal—whether that's improving balance, increasing joint range of motion, building strength, enhancing proprioception, or encouraging more symmetrical movement.
If the quality of movement isn't there, the exercise often reinforces the very compensation we're trying to change.
That's why I spend so much time teaching owners what to look for, not just what to do.
Sometimes we reduce the number of poles.
Sometimes we slow the pace.
Sometimes we stop after only a few repetitions.
Because quality will always outperform quantity.
The goal isn't to tick exercises off a list.
The goal is to help your horse move better.
Have you ever watched a video of your horse back and realised they weren't moving quite how you thought? It's amazing what you notice when you slow things down.
