When we make a new plan, optimism can sometimes stop us noticing what might get in the way.
The Failure Test asks you to imagine that the plan has already failed. Then ask yourself what probably caused it.
Was the deadline unrealistic? Were responsibilities unclear? Did you lack information? Did another priority take over?
Once you have identified the most likely causes, decide what you can prevent, prepare for or monitor.
This is not about being negative. It is a practical way to make a plan more realistic before problems arise.
