Yesterday's wellbeing walk had a lovely wander along the river to St Oswald's Church, and back through town before we had a well-deserved coffee.

There won't be any wellbeing walks for the next two Thursdays (17th and 24th), but you're very welcome to attend the next walk on the 1st of October.

The photography walks will be going ahead as usual on the 18th and 25th.

Hi everyone,
Just to let you know Music Sound & Nature starts Tuesday 22nd September
10am - 12pm. It will be held monthly - more dates to follow.
The first session will take place at ARCH.

If you want to come to the session, get in touch with us at: [email protected]
or call 0191 451 0890

About the course:

The course will be focused on fostering a deeper attachment to nature and processes of ecology, through music. You will participate in sound-making activities in groups.

Sound can play an important role in wellbeing; in these sessions we will explore both musical sound and the sounds of our natural environment and make creative connections between the two.

In each session we will practice attentive (or ‘deep’) listening in Durham’s rich natural spaces and develop musical responses (inside and outside) to our experience of this environmental sound.

No prior musical experience necessary, but dress for the weather!

Course created by James, who a composer from Durham University working on a community project called Composing Ecology.

Hi everyone - we've been asked to share the following opportunity with our staff, students and volunteers. Please see the attached poster and following information about how you can get involved:

"Durham County Council is refreshing its All-Age Autism Strategy, and we would like to hear from autistic people, family carers, and anyone with lived experience of autism.

To help shape the strategy, we will be holding two online discussion sessions to start with, in October and November, where people can share their experiences, discuss what is working well, identify gaps in support, and help develop priorities for the future.

We want this strategy to be developed with autistic people and their families, ensuring that lived experience is at the heart of decision-making.

We would particularly welcome participation from people with a wide range of experiences and backgrounds, so that the strategy reflects the diverse needs of autistic people and families across County Durham"

Starting Wednesday 26th August (and again on 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd September) - 1:30-4pm.
