A funeral will always be an extremely difficult and emotional occasion.

I honestly think the weather plays a part in how people navigate the day.

When the sun is out it can make just that little bit of difference to the whole day.

This afternoon we were at Colchester crematorium and it was glorious weather.

It's an extremely privileged position we have as funeral directors.

Sad news from the world of football this afternoon.

Former Wolves, Millwall and Portsmouth boss Kenny Jackett has passed away at the age of 64.

The ex-Wales international - who earned 31 caps - passed away on June 11. He stepped down from his role as Gillingham's sporting director two years ago due to medical reasons.

A number of his former clubs have paid tribute to Jackett, with Watford chairman and CEO Scott Duxbury saying: "There is a deep and profound sense of loss at the football club following the sad news Kenny Jackett has passed away. ❤️

This is Annie.❤️

It wasn't that easy to get a snapshot of Annie!

Accompanying her family at the funeral service.

Dog's play a huge part in many people's lives and we often get asked if they'd be allowed to be at the service.

This is exactly what happened on Wednesday when we were entrusted with the funeral of a lady who passed away far too soon.

Annie sat so patiently and was extremely well behaved and brought so much comfort to her family at what was a truly emotional day. ❤️

What an absolute honour it was to have met Emma.

A lady who contacted me and asked to meet to arrange her own funeral service having been given the devastating news that her time was limited.

There were many, many conversations with Emma. In person and via messenger.

A lady who really was loved by so many people.

A lady who played an important part in so many people's lives.

During our conversations there were so many discussions on what could happen at a funeral.

This lady fought her illness with incredible bravery and I couldn't help but be inspired by her outlook. It really was incredible.

My thoughts go out to all of Emma's many, many friends and to her family.

Emma had been recommended to us by a friend and I truly can't begin to tell you what that means to us. Recommendations mean the world.

I was asked today if I found it more difficult carrying out a funeral for someone I know and who I have met.

Simple answer is "yes". I do find it difficult and yet i find it such an amazing thing to have met people who have had the most devastating news delivered to them and they wish to speak about their funeral wishes to me.

Thank you to Jenny Andrews for leading a really beautiful and emotional service.

Well done to all those who stood at the front and spoke.

Thanks also go to Picnic's Flowers for their amazing floral tributes. ❤️
