Another ‘Question of the Day’ and another thought 💭 provoking moment. “Would you rather never be able to taste again or never be able to smell again”. By the end of the day it looks like the majority of people asked favoured taste 👅 over smell 👃🏾 Never to be able enjoy the taste of jam and sugar on a doughnut would be criminal

Yesterday we enjoyed a fabulous afternoon with the amazing Bob Jack. He had residents up on their feet, waving their hands and singing at the top of their voice. The atmosphere was amazing and a wonderful afternoon was enjoyed by all.

Our ‘Question of the Day’ was “would you rather teleport or be invisible?” Residents and visitors thought about their answers with much discussion and laughter and at the end of the day ‘be invisible’ won. Russell decided that he would rather teleport as he’s not devious enough to be invisible where as Bernie wanted to be invisible because she said ‘I’m just nosey’

Residents benefited from a visit from one of our PAT dogs. Roo is a 5 year old labradoodle who came in with her owner Tony and engaged with our residents. Having therapy dogs visit our home is very beneficial to our residents as they can help reduce loneliness , help with communication and once the residents get to know them they become very special to them. PAT dogs can trigger memories and they can have a very calming effect if someone is having a difficult or emotional time.
We are lucky to have many dogs come into the home and they are always received with love 🐶

Our Question of the Day’ was not quite as bizarre as yesterday but it did bring a lot of thought 💭 to everyone who was asked. ‘Would you rather travel to the future or to the past?’ The past came out top with people wanting to see family and friends who are no longer with us, Rosemary said the past saying ‘it was a nicer way of living’, Peter said the past as ‘I’ve been there and done it’, Terry chose the past as he said ‘there’s more of it’.
How one small question can be so thought provoking and a conversation starter.

Residents took part in a fabulous session of Mind and Motion. These sessions involve movement to music which helps promote mobility, strength, coordination, relaxation and social wellbeing. These sessions happen every week and start off with lively exercises and end with an opportunity to unwind and feel relaxed. They are a session that is always well attended and the benefits can be seen as residents have more confidence in walking, sit to stand and communicating with others.

Today we started our ‘Question of the Day’
Would you rather sweat mayonnaise or cry vinegar?
It’s amazing how such a bizarre question can start so many different conversations. This was at the start of the day, by 5pm it was decided that the majority of people would rather sweat mayonnaise 🤷‍♀️
The board is situated in our reception area so if you’re passing by don’t forget to have a look at the question and note your answer.

Following on from planting our trough on the first floor balcony for CC in Bloom the residents added colour. They told us what their favourite colour was and were given artificial flowers to match. Claire chose blue, Brian chose red and Yvonne and Pauline both chose pink. The flowers were individually planted by each resident and the trough came to life. The end result was so beautiful and it matched the backdrop picture perfectly. Such a lovely place to sit enjoy a coffee and a breath of fresh air.
