This week was World Photography Day, and residents at Olive Tree House and Rose Garden enjoyed using some different digital cameras. The residents loved seeing the instant outcomes and trying out different photography techniques.

Photographs are a lasting memory; in the digital age everyone said whilst the instant image was great, it used to be a real excitement collecting the prints or waiting for them to come in the post!

Next year it will be 200 years since the first photograph was taken; that first photo took several days to develop, a truly amazing invention.

Blossom Fields was invited to the The Music Train Summer Party at Paul's Place, and what a wonderful way to spend a Friday afternoon.
It was also an excellent opportunity for home manager Maggie, activities coordinator Rose and resident Pete, who regularly attends the centre, to present the money raised by Blossom Fields for the centre. Paul's Place moved into their Hub in Yate this year, and Blossom Fields' residents and team are keen to continue to support the amazing work of this centre with this being their third "lot" of fundraising.

Inviting along residents from neighbouring home The Grove and with thanks as always to Green Community Travel, the homes filled the minibus. The Music Train is also a charity that has at its heart is music for all, and with a fabulous trio of performers today, everyone is very appreciative of the work they do.

What is very special is every time the homes' residents and team visit Paul's Place, there is always such a warm welcome. Those who attend the centre really want to be at the heart of the wider community, and the Community Cafe is now open, offering plenty of seating and a children's play area. It was a full house at Blossom Fields for new singer and guitarist Benny. Residents were keen to enjoy a new entertainer, and he didn't disappoint!

Benny performs at Allegra Care's homes across the region, and his rock 'n' roll style is very much enjoyed.

There has been some fun with technology at Olive Tree House using the interactive screen for games. This device can be used by more than one resident at once, but equally can be a great opportunity for some individual time. Resident June enjoyed trying out a range of games with activities coordinator Liz.

Olive Tree House and Rose Garden care homes in Patchway are recruiting for a full time Care Home Administrator.

This role is working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. Candidates will have strong IT skills and ideally some knowledge or experience of HR processes and sponsorship requirements.

Alive Activities latest visit to The Grove was full of activities, from balancing and throwing balls to fun with the parachute. Keeping active is a big part of life at The Grove. Following last week's visit to the new accessible play park in Frenchay, table tennis has become very popular in the home! Not only is physical activity positive for residents' well-being, it is great to see the social side of activity as well.

Blossom Fields' residents enjoyed a Chef's Workshop with two of the home's chefs, Mike and Matt. The residents made cheese straws, assisted by the chefs and some family members. There was no skimping on the cheese! Baking and cooking are always enjoyed, and of course as are the end results.

The chefs, accompanied by residents, took the cheese straws around the home for everyone to enjoy.
