June is Pride month, and at Olive Tree House and Rose Garden the home's residents are working on Pride crafts which will be part of the Nature in Art Exhibition this month ๐ŸŒˆ

The brightly coloured crafts have included painting on coffee filters; the paper they are made from gives the effect of colours merging. Other crafts include shaped wool pom-poms also in vivid colours.

The craft sessions bring residents together as well as sparking conversations about why Pride and its key message, love is love is important โค๏ธ

Blossom Fields held a sip and paint session; there was wine sipping and tea sipping to suit!

This time the water painting was used, which is where water is brushed on and the painting emerges with colour; it is relaxing, and this was a real hit with residents who enjoyed seeing the colours emerge.

82 years ago today the largest amphibious invasion took place on the beaches of Normandy - D Day. In 1944 over 2 million troops from over 12 countries were in Britain in preparation for the invasion. It is a day to honour as thousands paid the ultimate price but also a day to celebrate as it the crucial turning point in World War 2 because it established the long-awaited second front in Western Europe.

Blossom Fields welcomed the D-Day Dollies from Mini Concerts for a performance of some wartime classic songs which residents very much enjoyed. There are many residents in their 90s who have clear memories of the war, and it is a privilege to hear their experiences.

There was colour, music, joy and dancing when Lauren from Flourish Dance Wellbeing visited Olive Tree House and Rose Garden this week. It really was a feel-good session with Lauren's energy matched by activities coordinator Liz as they both performed! Great to see everyone enjoying something different with residents at both homes loving the May Pole and gymnastic ribbons.

At Blossom Fields it was armchair travel to Portugal ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น

There was a very interesting talk from activities coordinator Rose, including showing a fascinating drone tour of the stunning coastline as well as some videos of traditional Portuguese dancing and music. The home's Head Chef, Jose is Portuguese so he spoke about Portuguese cuisine and treated everyone to delicious homemade "cuscuroes".

A most enjoyable afternoon in Portugal!
