We are delighted to announce a new partnership between BioFit Health and Dunmow & Cambridge Private Medical Clinic.

Their team brings together senior consultants across a wide range of specialities, all highly experienced in their fields. Where a patient needs input beyond what we provide at BioFit, we can now refer directly on to a trusted team just down the road.

It means faster access to specialist opinion, continuity of care, and one less thing for our patients to have to arrange themselves.

We are really pleased to be working alongside them and look forward to supporting each other to deliver a high standard of care right across our local area.

Training hard and going backwards? It might not be your programme.

A patient came to us with their heart rate creeping up, recovery scores on the floor, and exhaustion that sleep wasn't touching. Their iron stores were nearly empty.

Iron carries oxygen to your muscles, so when it drops, training is where you notice first. Sessions that used to feel easy leave you breathless. Your heart rate sits higher for the same pace, because if each beat is carrying less oxygen your body simply beats more often. Then come the quieter signs, cold hands, restless legs at night, hair thinning in the shower.

Food does help, and red meat and liver are the forms you absorb best. But if you're genuinely low, diet alone won't dig you back out, and that's when a proper course of iron and a recheck is the right answer.

If you're training hard and going backwards, get it measured rather than guessed at.

Something happens on site and the policy says test. The hard part is rarely the policy, it is finding someone who can attend before the trail goes cold.

BioFit Health offers drug and alcohol testing for employers at short notice. Post incident, for cause, random and pre employment. Urine and oral fluid screening with laboratory confirmation where you need it, and full chain of custody to EWDTS guidelines so the result stands up if it is ever challenged.

I’ve spent 12 years in emergency, urgent and primary care as a paramedic practitioner.
