this messy play one which is also a mark-making activity on foil offers significant educational benefits for toddlers by fostering fine motor skills and creative exploration.

Incorporating shaving foam elevates this experience into a multi-sensory activity, stimulating tactile and olfactory senses while adding a three-dimensional element that supports early spatial understanding.

Well done kids yous deserved your afternoon fun at the park afterwards🩵🩷🩷 👏

An exciting opportunity has opened up for a new child too join our caring and engaging home environment. Starting end of August 2026, we'll have spaces available as some of our current little ones are heading off to school/nursery.

We currently have **Tuesdays and Wednesdays all day** available come Aug!

We offer a nurturing, safe, and fun setting where children can learn, play, and grow. With a focus on the outdoors activities and gentle routines, we aim to support each child's development and help shape their futures.

Rest assured, your child will be in good hands. Today , we prepared our picnic bag and visited one of our wonderful local parks for a teddy bears' picnic. 🧺 🐻

Everyone chose their favorite teddy, and we set off! We enjoyed story time, singing, and ball games, and each child had a turn in the sand park area.

This was a fantastic way to conclude .

The children are tired from all the enjoyment, and so am I!

After all, it's Friday—hooray! 🎉

This afternoon adventures went onto our Gourock Bunny Park. We love to visit our animal friends on a weekly basis!

This morning, we were so lucky to have some sunshine! ☀️ We made the most of it with a trip to the park and the beach. 🏖️

Watching the waves 🌊 , listening to the sounds 👂 of them, exploring the sand and smelling the seaweed which has offered so many new sensations.

For a baby under one year old, these experiences are fantastic for reaching developmental milestones, especially in sensory and motor skills as we walk along different surfaces on our journey! 💙

This afternoon we went on a nature hunt :

For toddlers this can be really engaging and cover lots of developmental areas such as:

Sensory Exploration: Encourage them to touch, smell, and look closely at the different items they find. Talk about textures (smooth, rough, bumpy), colors, and smells.

This helps develop their sensory awareness.🩷

Language Development,

Introduce new words related to nature, like "leaf," "twig," "stone," "flower," and "bug." Ask them questions like, "What color is this leaf?" or "How does this stone feel?"

Counting and Sorting,

Count the items they collect ("Let's count how many leaves we found!") or sort them by type, color, or size. This introduces early math concepts.

Creative Expression,

Use the collected items for art projects. They can create collages, paint with mud, or make nature sculptures. This encourages creativity and fine motor skills.

Gross Motor Skills ,

The nature hunt itself involves walking, running, bending, and reaching, which helps develop their gross motor skills.

Today a memory popped up from May Day 2019 – a visit to the Cardwell garden centre with my own kids. Back then, I never imagined it would become a regular spot, or even that I'd become a childminder🙈! But here I am, loving life and having the privilege to care for children who become just like my own wee family.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the families who trust me to be their child’s childcare provider. Sharing these early experiences with them is incredibly rewarding as I watch them flourish from babies too confident young toddlers and beyond. 👧 🌍

A trip to the garden centre isn't just a trip to a store, it's about exploring, learning, and making discoveries. We visit the indoor sand park, see the animals, take a look at the plants, we speak about their colours and sounds, and soak in all those little things that are so important in early childhood. Within a nursery setting, these kinds of outings might be annual events, but as a childminder, we get to do them more often and really have that benefit of exploring the outdoors. The conversations, the interactions, and the learning moments we create together make it all worthwhile. 🫶🏻

These experiences are fundamental in shaping a child's understanding of the world, fostering curiosity, and building social skills in a nurturing, small-group environment.

I feel so lucky to be a part of their early development! 💫 keep shining children. & Never loose your sparkle ✨
