Time to get back in the land of the living

Thursday night.
Fog.
Edinburgh University.
Specifically, a couple of big floodlights almost converging on the Golden Boy atop the dome over at the Old College.
An angle I've never really captured before for some reason but, one I'll definitely be revisiting.
Put all that together and here's a fresh shot from Thursdays' fog.

Having run this page for a little over twelve years, I get to read a lot of posts. People tell me (and each other) things on here. It's fair to say a lot of folks visit from afar and they want to see Auld Reekie as they imagine it; moody, big old historical buildings and cobbles and with all that comes a sense of mystery and drama that is based on fiction and reality. Books, films and the real world drive it all.

So when folk rock up in the summer and get THIS weather (sunshine, blue skies and beautiful weather) they are shocked. Most call it summer, we usually call it Monday as it usually lasts a day in July or August. Anyway this year, its been decent so, in an act of hopefully helping folk see what they might've expected here is Edinburgh in the fog, rain and mankyness that folk do seem to enjoy. A 'haar' (sea fog) engulfing the Royal Mile in fact.

LAST NIGHT for Calendars. Get them now or forever hold your peace. Linkage below. Or ask. Thanks for reading and have a big, braw day/night.

Saturday and I'm feeling fine; not a hair left on my head after a quick haircut this morning (to be fair, wasn't much to start with) and I settled my belly with a couple of very braw sausage rolls and an empire biscuit. Sorted for a few hours.
On a roll remembering Canada Day the other day and today wishing all my American friends a happy 4th July - whatever you do or don't do for the day, have a good one.
And for the rest of the world (because someone ALWAYS finds a reason to moan when I don't call out (insert their day of choice) have a good one - it's Saturday so we celebrate that too right. Another day above the daisies etc.
Life is braw. And with that, here's ANOTHER shot from the 2027 Calendar...it's almost as if....I was trying to let folk kno....about these calendars? I say that as some crazy the other day took great offence at me talking about the stuff I make available and my apparent love for cash, clearly missing the point of said funds paying some bills and supplying food etc :-) Oh the joys of living on fresh air and love alone :-)
I digress. I DO wish ye all a braw Saturday and here is Queen Mary's Bathhouse. If you want to look at this next year, you can - its in the 2027 Old Edinburgh Calendar live now and look under this wee post for more info on that......

Checked the data on this pic before I posted it.
I took this one at 5.47am on a foggy autumn morning.
Nobody really about at that time and so I had most of Old Edinburgh to myself which worked out nicely for peopleless shots in the fog...wandered down the Grassmarket via Victoria Street, stopped right about the spot where the gallows once stood and took this one. Nothing to ruin the almost silence and you could almost cut the air with a knife. THIS, is the shot.
Happy Saturday...
