Let's chat to Sally Eccleston about Yin & Nervous System Restore here at Riverside - A beginner-friendly class for calming the body and mind.

Feeling overwhelmed or constantly on edge? This course offers simple, effective tools to support your nervous system and help you move from stress and overload to greater clarity, calm, and relaxation.

Through gentle, somatic-based practices drawn from Yin Yoga, Somatics, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, you’ll learn how to release deep tension in the body and restore balance. These practices work on the soft tissues to encourage emotional release, ease physical holding patterns, and support the healthy flow of energy throughout your whole system.

Join us to discover how small, mindful movements can bring big shifts in how you feel - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

The June Riverside newsletter has just landed.

This month we're focusing on Corporate Wellbeing. Which is timely, because by this point in the year quite a few people are running on determination, caffeine and whatever was left in the biscuit tin from yesterday's meeting.

Inside this month's edition you'll find updates from around the centre, upcoming events, practitioner articles from and and some news about our new workplace wellbeing training starting in August.

You can read it here:

As always, if something catches your eye, we'd love to hear from you - subscribe for more!

Who are the Wellbeing Champions within your organisation?
Do you have any?
Would you like to train as one?

This Summer, we’ll be launching Workplace Wellbeing Champion Training here at Riverside – Centre for Personal & Professional Development in Whaley Bridge.

A Wellbeing Champion is someone within an organisation who helps promote a healthier, more supportive workplace culture alongside their existing role. They are not therapists or counsellors. They are approachable advocates who help keep wellbeing visible, practical and part of everyday working life.

Having trained Wellbeing Champions within your organisation can help to:

✔ Normalise conversations around wellbeing
✔ Improve morale, engagement and workplace culture
✔ Bridge the gap between employees, leadership and support resources
✔ Encourage healthier and more sustainable working practices
✔ Increase visibility and participation in wellbeing initiatives
✔ Support retention, communication and long-term performance

This training is ideal for organisations wanting to move beyond “tick-box wellbeing” and create meaningful action within their teams.

The programme includes:
• Understanding the role and responsibilities of a Wellbeing Champion
• Communication and people skills
• The pillars of wellbeing
• Developing initiatives and wellbeing plans
• Creating a positive workplace culture
• Sustaining motivation without burnout

Training will run across 2 half-day interactive sessions and is suitable for businesses, organisations, schools and teams wanting to strengthen workplace wellbeing from the inside out.

If this is something your organisation would benefit from, or you’d like to find out more, send me a message or comment below. 👇

New month approaching at Riverside: Corporate Wellbeing.

Which, thankfully, means we can all stop pretending workplace wellbeing is solved by sticking a bowl of bananas near the printer and sending an email about resilience every six months.

There’s loads happening at Riverside this week alongside the usual pilates, yoga and movement sessions, including Nap Club, Feel Good Friday and the Future-Proof Club.

But this month we’ll also be talking more about what wellbeing at work looks like when people are under pressure, tired, glued to screens all day and trying to function professionally while internally wondering if it’s too early for another coffee.

If you’re a business owner, manager or team leader and your staff are running on fumes, we should probably have a conversation.

Nothing says the bank holiday’s finished quite like sitting back at your desk on Tuesday morning and immediately feeling your shoulders climb back up towards your ears.

A lot of people spent the weekend doing “jobs in the garden” like they’re on Ground Force. Now everybody’s stiff, tired and pretending they’re pleased to be back in work.

It’s Movement & Wellbeing Month at Riverside, and most aches people carry around aren’t from dramatic sporting injuries. It’s usually just hours of sitting badly, being stressed and trying to answer emails while eating lunch at the same time.

You can normally tell how somebody’s week is going by how hard their jaw’s clenched.

Which is probably a decent lead into next month at Riverside… Corporate Wellbeing Month.

Because workplace wellbeing should involve more than a bowl of bruised bananas in the kitchen and a mindfulness PDF nobody’s opened.

Bank holiday weekend update: hopefully you’ve managed to move your body this weekend… even if it’s mainly been a gentle relocation into a sunnier spot.

As part of Movement & Wellbeing Month at Riverside, we’d genuinely love to see how people have been getting out and about this weekend.

Walks, hikes, bike rides, gardening, paddleboarding, chasing children round a park… it all counts.

Here’s Errwood Reservoir looking absolutely delightful for inspiration.

Drop your photos in the comments 👇

And while we’re here… if movement, treatment or support at Riverside has helped you feel better in your body, a Google review really helps other people find us too.

Bank holiday weekend. The sun’s out. Frankly suspicious behaviour for Britain, but we’ll take it if it’s offered.

With the forecast looking suspiciously cheerful for a bank holiday weekend, it feels like the perfect excuse to get outside and make the most of it.

As part of Movement & Wellbeing Month, this is your gentle reminder that movement doesn’t have to mean anything extreme. A walk in the sunshine, a stretch after a long week, a bit of fresh air and a slower pace all count.

Sometimes feeling better starts with the simple things - moving a little more, breathing a little deeper and actually taking a proper break for once.

And if the weather does suddenly turn feral by Monday afternoon, at least you tried!

Not everyone needs a base like this.

But when you’re serious about your work, the environment you base yourself in matters. Not just the room, but the people around you, the standards, and how you show up professionally.

At Riverside, our Associates run their own practice, with the backing of a professional base and an engaged community around them.

If that approach fits how you like to work, get in touch.

Many of us are very good at putting up with little aches and pains for far longer than we need to.

A stiff back becomes “just one of those things.” Your neck clicks every time you turn around and somehow that becomes normal. Before long you’re getting out of a chair making the same noise as the chair. Looking after your body earlier is usually a lot easier than trying to sort things once everything’s tightened up and started complaining properly.

It’s Movement & Wellbeing Month at Riverside, so this is your reminder that movement, stretching, recovery and rest all count 😊

Your body does quite a lot for you really. Fair to meet it halfway.
