We’ve been celebrating International Housekeepers Week here at Hungerford Care Home and it felt only right to shine a light on our wonderful team 💜

Judika, Jade, Trinidad and Donna do so much behind the scenes each day, keeping everything just right for our residents. It’s those little touches that make such a difference, and we’re so grateful for the care they put into their work 😊

We surprised them with some flowers as a small thank you, but it really doesn’t cover how much we appreciate them 💐

Our lovely residents, Elizabeth, Susan, Phyllis and Ron at Hungerford Care Home have had a little trip into Newbury 💜

There was talk of “just a quick look” in the shops, but we all know how that goes… A wander through Primark, Poundland and Edinburgh Wool soon turned into a proper browse, with a few bargains spotted and popped into baskets along the way 🛒

After all that shopping, we were more than ready to sit down at Boswells Café for a well earned lunch. A cuppa, something tasty to eat and a chance to rest our feet together felt just right 😊

🎸🎶 We had a fantastic afternoon of music at Hungerford Care Home as Thomas Heppell joined us for an afternoon of live entertainment.

Thomas had everyone joining in with songs they knew and loved, with plenty of singing along and even a few residents showing off their air guitar skills! 🎸😄

It was lovely to see everyone getting involved, and it’s safe to say Thomas was a big hit with our residents. We’re already hoping he’ll be back for another afternoon of music soon 💜

A huge thank you to Vicar Mike and the wonderful volunteers from St Lawrence's Church, Hungerford for rolling up their sleeves and giving our orchard a much needed makeover here at Hungerford Care Home ! 🌿

There were plenty of brambles and stinging nettles to tackle, but they got stuck straight in and made such a difference. Our residents were delighted to see the transformation, and after all that hard work, we made sure everyone had some well deserved tea and cake ☕🍰

The before and after photos really do speak for themselves. Thank you again to Vicar Mike and everyone who gave up their time to help make our orchard a lovely space for our residents to enjoy 💜

🙏 A Special Church Service at Hungerford Care Home ✝️

We were so pleased to welcome Vicar Mike from St Lawrence's Church, Hungerford to Hungerford Care Home, who kindly led a beautiful church service followed by Holy Communion 🕊️

It was a really peaceful and meaningful time for our residents, filled with prayer, reflection and togetherness, and it brought a lovely sense of comfort throughout the home ❤️

A big thank you to Vicar Mike for taking the time to visit us and share such a special service. We’re very grateful for his kindness and support.

Supporting our local community 💜💛

Today is World Food Bank Awareness Day, so we wanted to share a lovely visit from John and Teresa to West Berks Foodbank. They headed over with a generous donation, made possible by the kindness of our wonderful families at Hungerford Care Home 🥫💜

The volunteers took the time to show John and Teresa how the food bank works and how donations help local people and families. They were given a lovely welcome too, with plenty of time for a cup of tea and a chat ☕

A big thank you to our families for their generosity. It is wonderful to see our home coming together to support people in our local community💛

🌸 What’s on this September at Hungerford Care Home 🌸

We’ve got a lovely mix of events and outings planned this September, with music, trips out, community activities and plenty of opportunities to get involved 💜

⛪ 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 | Wednesday 2nd from 11:30am - 12:00pm
Join us for a special church service with Vicar Mike from St Lawrence Church.

🥫𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 | Wednesday 2nd from 1:30pm - 3:00pm
We’ll be visiting the local food bank in Hungerford to drop off donations. If you’d like to support us, donations of tins, pasta, rice, tea and coffee, toiletries and breakfast items can be dropped off at the home by 1st September.

🎤 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗛𝗲𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗹| Wednesday 9th from 2:00pm - 3:00pm
We’re looking forward to an afternoon of Frank Sinatra and Elvis favourites with a singing performance from Thomas Heppel. We may even have a few residents singing along!

🚌 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝗯𝘂𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗽 | Friday 11th from 10:30am - 2:30pm
We’re heading out for a trip into Newbury town for a change of scenery and a little exploring.

🎶 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗸 & 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗺 | Wednesday 23rd from 2:00pm - 3:00pm
Graham from Greenman Folk will be joining us for an afternoon of folk and country music.

☕ 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 | Friday 25th from 10:00am - 12:00pm
Join us for refreshments and a cuppa as we support Macmillan Cancer Support. There’ll be plenty of opportunities to donate to a very good cause 💜

As summer comes to an end, we’re looking back at some of our August highlights across Gold Care Homes ☀️💜

With plenty of summer sunshine, our homes found ways to enjoy the summer while keeping cool, with ice creams and ice cream van visits proving particularly popular! 🍦

We also put the kettle on for Afternoon Tea Week, enjoyed some well-earned downtime for National Relaxation Day and made the most of the Summer Bank Holiday.

We had a lovely afternoon of ABBA classics at Hungerford Care Home when Shelley from Mini Concerts joined us for a musical afternoon 🎶

Our wonderful residents knew plenty of the songs and were more than happy to sing along, with a few toe taps and dance moves making an appearance too! It was great to see everyone getting into the music and enjoying themselves 💜

A big thank you to Shelley for a brilliant afternoon. We’re already looking forward to the next one!

🎈 What a fantastic visit at Hungerford Care Home! 🎈

We loved welcoming the Newbury RC Balloon Team , who brought along one of their incredible model hot air balloons for our residents to enjoy up close.

There were plenty of smiles, curiosity and excitement as everyone learnt more about the balloon and shared such a unique experience together ❤️

A huge thank you to David, Jonathan, Sue and the team for your time, kindness and for creating such a memorable moment for our residents. You truly brought a little bit of balloon magic to our home 🎈✨
