Today we tried leaning into abstraction.
Marking up a piece of cartridge paper with masking tape forms a grid, then spilling, scraping, painting and flicking black ink, gives us a haphazard chaotic design across the page.
When the ink had dried, it was time to start working with watercolour and brusho to add our colours.

Taking the tape off at the end revealed the final artwork. The individual frames should be graphic, expressive examples of mark making, and a solid introduction to working with abstraction.

Art & Artists
Thurs 29 Oct

We were looking at Marc Chagall today, Especially with regard to his use of colour and dream-like imagery.
We drew out our images first, trying to get that mix of surreal, abstract and figurative subject matter, then, using watercolour, brusho and illustrators inks, we laid on the colurs, to make our dream picture.

Today we carried on working with the leaves we've* been picking up from around Kendal.
By PVAing the leaves first, we created a surface we could add acrylic paints to make bright designs on the leaves.
