🌈 Sensory Science in Action! 🌈

Today at Muddy Minis, we explored a colourful sensory tray filled with exciting textures, swirling colours and lots of opportunities for investigation! 🔍

The children loved mixing, squeezing, pouring and experimenting with the cornflour and water.
They watched how the colours moved and changed as they interacted with them. Using pipettes and their hands, they practised fine motor skills while making predictions and testing out their ideas.

This open-ended activity encouraged:
🌿 Curiosity and exploration
🌿 Fine motor development
🌿 Early scientific thinking and problem-solving
🌿 Communication and language skills
🌿 Creativity and imaginative play

There was plenty of discussion, discovery and laughter as the children explored the ever-changing patterns and textures. Activities like these provide wonderful opportunities for children to learn through play, investigate at their own pace and build confidence in their own ideas 💚

🚗✨ Investigation, Prediction & Play at Muddy Minis ✨🚗

Today we turned our staircase into a giant race track! 🏁

We experimented with rolling different objects down the track, testing which ones travelled the fastest and why. We talked about speed, height, gravity and prediction as we watched the objects zoom down the ramp 🚘💨

This simple activity encouraged:
🔸 Problem-solving and critical thinking
🔸 Understanding of cause and effect
🔸 Communication and language through discussion
🔸 Turn taking and shared play
🔸 Curiosity through hands-on learning

There were lots of giggles, excitement and “again!” moments as we explored early science concepts through play 😊

Today we headed out on a little adventure to explore the world around us! 🌎

The children loved racing cars down the hills, watching how fast they could go and experimenting with different surfaces and slopes 🚗💨 This encouraged problem-solving, prediction skills and lots of excitement!

Along the way, we stopped to look closely at beautiful wildflowers, tiny bugs and all the little treasures nature has to offer 🐞🌸 The children used their curiosity to investigate colours, textures and living things in our environment.

Outdoor exploration helps children to:
🌱 Build confidence and independence
🌱 Develop curiosity and communication skills
🌱 Learn about nature and the world around them
🌱 Strengthen gross motor skills through active play

🌈✨ Colour Magic at Muddy Minis ✨🌈

Today we explored a fun and exciting colour experiment using sweets and water as requested by one of our children! 🍬💧

The children carefully placed the sweets around the plate, then watched in amazement as the colours slowly spread and blended together to create beautiful rainbow patterns 🌈

This activity supported:
🔸 Understanding of the world (simple science)
🔸 Communication and language as we talked about what was happening
🔸 Creativity and curiosity through hands-on exploration

There were lots of “wow” moments and big smiles all round! 😊

Today we’ve been busy building, creating and exploring in our outdoor space! 🛠️

Using construction pieces, the children worked together to design and build their very own structures, developing problem-solving skills, teamwork and lots of imagination along the way💡

We then turned our creation into a cosy den, sparking small world play with dinosaurs and storytelling 🦖 supporting creativity, communication and confidence.

At Muddy Minis, we love learning through play, especially outdoors where children can explore freely, take risks safely and bring their ideas to life 🌱
