What's that white bit? It's called frosting, and it's completely normal after laser tattoo removal.

It shows up straight after the laser and usually fades within the hour. The ink then breaks down gradually over the following weeks, which is why tattoo removal is done as a course of sessions spaced apart.

How many sessions you'll need depends on the ink colours, how old the tattoo is and your skin, so we'll talk it all through at your consultation.

Another carbon doll at Fill Good Aesthetics.

This is the bit people don't usually see. After the laser, Libby lifts away the carbon, then cleanses, calms and hydrates the skin so you leave looking fresh and bright.

A carbon laser facial is a good fit if you're bothered by oily skin, pores that look enlarged or a dull complexion. Your skin may look a little pink for a short while afterwards, which settles on its own.

I'm Alicia. I've been a nurse since 2009 and I'm an independent prescriber, so if you come to us for anything injectable, it's me you'll see, from your consultation right through to your review two weeks later.

People are often surprised by how much we do here. Lip, cheek, jawline, chin and tear trough filler. Profhilo and polynucleotides for skin that looks tired. Microneedling, dermaplaning and carbon laser facials for texture, pigmentation and old acne scarring. Skin tag removal, laser hair removal and tattoo removal. And scalp micropigmentation for thinning hair or a receding hairline, which we trained in with Scalpology Hair Loss Clinic.

Libby Fuller looks after SMP, laser, carbon facials and microneedling in her own room here, and she's brilliant at it.

Most people come in asking for one thing and turn out to need something slightly different. Someone wanting lip filler might get a better result from a little chin support, for example. Why is there so much negativity around aesthetic treatments?

“Why would you want to do that?” “Rat poison!” “So fake!” “Just grow old gracefully!”

We hear these comments far too often. But what many people fail to understand is that, for some, aesthetic treatments are about so much more than appearance.

They can be about self-esteem, confidence, self-love and mental wellbeing. They can help someone feel more like themselves, feel more confident in their own skin, and bring a little extra happiness into their lives.

I always say to my clients: these treatments are for YOU, and you alone. Not for your partner, your friends, society or anyone else’s approval.

If having a little tweakment makes you feel good about yourself, then why should anyone else have a say?

Growing old gracefully is a personal choice. So is choosing to have aesthetic treatments. One is not more right than the other. We should all have the freedom to make choices about our own bodies without judgement or criticism.
