We are very excited to share this post!

🎉 We're Reopening! 🎉

We have some wonderful news to share...

Following our latest veterinary testing, we're delighted to announce that The Magpie Centre has now received the all-clear.

Our horses are all well and will begin returning to work during the week commencing July 27th, giving them time to settle back into their routines before we welcome our participants and volunteers back from 📅 August 10th.

From then, we'll be delighted to restart:
💙 Riding Lessons
💙 Carriage Driving
💙 Equine Assisted Therapy
💙 Tea with a Pony
💙 The Nest (September)

This moment simply wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support of our community.

To everyone who donated, organised a fundraiser, shared our appeals or sent messages of encouragement > thank you. Your kindness has helped us through a very challenging time.

While we're thrilled to be reopening our gates, the financial impact of the closure is still significant. Our recovery continues, and every donation, fundraiser and social share still helps us rebuild and ensure The Magpie Centre can continue changing lives for years to come.

We can't wait to welcome our participants, volunteers and supporters back, hear the arena full of laughter again, and see our wonderful horses doing what they love most.

A huge thanks to the Downham Market Knitters group!

They recently ran a coffee morning and raised £220 which they have so kindly donated to our centre.

A Little Update from Magpie ❤️🐴

We wanted to keep everyone updated on how things are going.

We are continuing with the testing process, and the results over the next couple of weeks will help us determine when we can safely reopen.

By then, we will have been closed for four weeks. Every unexpected week of closure costs Magpie around £4,200, meaning we have faced a revenue gap of approximately £16,800.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated to our appeal so far to support us through this challenging time. Your kindness and generosity has meant so much to everyone at Magpie and is helping to keep us going while we remain closed.

As soon as we know more, we'll share another update. Until then, thank you for your patience, understanding and ongoing support. It truly means so much to everyone at Magpie. ❤️

A quick update from the yard!

Horses are being well cared for as always and enjoying some down time while we are closed.

Our wonderful staff are ensuring all biosecurity measures and keeping in touch with our Vet when needed.

We hope to share more when we can.

While our gates are temporarily closed, the care of our horses and ponies never stops.

Every day, our team is still feeding, mucking out, providing veterinary care, arranging farrier visits and ensuring every horse and pony receives the love and attention they deserve. With our usual income reduced, we still need to raise £4,200 every week to cover these essential costs.

Today, we're asking our amazing community to help.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! PLEASE SHARE!

💙 Can Our Community Help The Nest? 💙

This September, we're looking for a temporary home for The Nest for around three months while our usual base at The Magpie Centre is temporarily unavailable.

Our priority is making sure the incredible young people who attend The Nest where we offer Alternative Provision can continue their sessions with as little disruption as possible. Routine, stability and a familiar environment mean so much to them, and we're hoping our amazing community can help us find a temporary space where they can continue to learn, grow and thrive.

We're looking for somewhere close to Downham Market with:
📆 September – November 2026
🏡 A lodge, cabin or similar building
🚻 Toilet facilities
💧 Running water
⚡ Electricity
🌿 Outdoor space where one small, quiet pony can spend the day

It doesn't need to be anything fancy, just a safe and welcoming place that could become The Nest's home for a short time.

If you have a property that might be suitable, know someone who could help, or have any ideas, we'd love to hear from you. Please send us a private message.
