MEET THE TEAM FRIDAY
Happy Friday! Here at Bentham Medical Practice we thought it would be good to do a series of Friday posts to help you meet the team! For the first week we have out new Practice Manager Emma Spence. Here are the quick fire questions to learn a little bit more about her.
1. Name: Emma Spence
2. Job title: Practice Manager
3. How long at the practice? Almost 8 weeks
4. Favourite part of your job? The staff – everyone is really friendly, helpful and cares passionately about the patients, the community and their role. They all give 130% all day, every day.
5. What does your role involve? A Practice Manager’s role is very varied but is basically the job of enabling people to do their work in the best environment possible with the best support possible. It involves ensuring that the practice is well maintained, the staff are engaged and happy in their roles, and the practice is compliant in health and safety and employment law. More than that though, it is about being aware of the ‘face’ of the practice and its role in the community, providing a link for patients to communicate with the practice and ensuring that their voices are heard. It’s challenging, no two days are the same and I love it!
6. Tea or coffee? Both – in vast quantities! Decaf doctor, I promise….
7. Fun fact / hobby: I love trail running and last year raised over £1,000 for Guide Dogs UK doing the Great North Run.
8. Favourite wellbeing trick: Being outdoors. We are so fortunate to live in a beautiful part of the country. Whatever problems or concerns I have are lessened when I am out in the fresh air with my little dog on a walk, come rain or shine. Also Try the three-minute rule: Even if you don’t feel like going out, give it three minutes. If you want to turn back after three minutes, that’s fine but nine times out of ten I bet you will carry on.

Many of our patients use our anticoagulant service and come to the surgery for their INR blood tests. Our local ICB have created a questionnaire for these patients to have their say - They are having a review of these services in the community. To make sure our services are not taken away from our rural area, if you have INR's performed in the surgery and are able to take part in this survey the link is provided below.
The first question asks what area you are from, as we are part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria team, please select SOUTH CUMBRIA for question 1 to keep in line with our primary care network.
We have not been given any other format for this survey, so if you think that a friend or family member would like to have their say, please pass this on, let them know, help if you can. Thankyou for your support as patients. It is important to us that you have your say in the services we provide in rural locations.

NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) is the organisation responsible for planning health and care services in the region.

The Dementia Friendly Breakfast Club will be saying goodbye to our founder Jonathan next week on the 21st May. Our breakfast club is from 10am to 12noon and we plan to give Jonathan a good send off. We are super sad that he is leaving and would like to invite anyone who has been part of the club these last 10 years of Jonathan's reign to say their goodbyes.... On a plus note he is being replaced by Kim, who has learnt a lot from Jonathan over 5 years and cannot wait to takeover the mischief
