🎁PLEASE READ🎁

Harry was asked by a Vicar last week, why we don't provide gifts to care homes on days such as Mother's Day or Father's Day etc, stating "you could be missing a trick there". Which was a really interesting comment.

There is a very simple answer why....

As funeral directors, we are bound by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) Order 2021, which places strict rules on relationships between funeral businesses and care providers. Providing gifts or incentives to care homes, hospices or hospitals could be viewed as an attempt to influence referrals and would be in breach of the CMA regulations.

For that reason, we do not give gifts, hampers, branded paraphernalia or other incentives to care homes or hospitals on these occasions, including displaying leaflets. This approach ensures we remain fully compliant with the law and continue to operate with transparency, professionalism, and integrity.

Our priority is always to support families and communities in an ethical and lawful manner.

For more information and details of the CMA order, there are a couple of links in the comments section below 👇🏻

✨️MEET OUR TEAM.....

Kevin Bridgman - Hearse driver, bearer, on-call team and all round source of professional knowledge and assistance.

Kevin was born and bred in Lanson, attending school and college locally before joining his family business of general builders & carpenters, painter & decorators and funeral directors. They employed a large number of local tradesmen at the time!

Kevin's Grandfather, Herbert Hoskin, was part of a 4 generation Funeral Directors in Launceston. A well known and respected undertakers before they ceased business in the late 1980's. A part of the family business Kevin regularly helped with as they often merged builders/carpenters/undertakers in those days. Herbert also served as Mayor of Launceston on 7 occasions leading up to and during WW2.

The funeral profession stayed with Kevin, as he began helping Gordon, Mary & Garfield Gubbin in the early 90's and has dedicated over 30 years of support to G F Gubbin Funeral Directors (and counting). A familiar face driving our Hearse often brings a lot of comfort to bereaved families and his local knowledge spanned over 60+ years is extremely valuable (we won't give your age away) 🤪

Besides assisting us, Kevin still carries out painting & decorating and general building jobs, as well as volunteering his early mornings to tidy up the grounds of Launceston Castle. You may also see him driving the odd tractor from time to time.

Thank you for all you do Kevin, your commitment to us and your community is hugely appreciated and we are very proud to have you as part of our team.

We were honoured to welcome SAIF President Gary Staker, Vice President Simon Helliar-Moore and his Husband Robert, to our funeral home in Launceston yesterday.

It was a pleasure to show them around our extensively refurbished and modernised premises. We're grateful for the lovely feedback and proud that our commitment to having such high standards has been recognised.

After a quick coffee, we headed to Camborne for the regional SAIF meeting at Treswithian Downs Crematorium. These meetings give us the opportunity to network with fellow professionals, stay current with industry developments and represent Cornwall on a national level
