Mums to be and parents planning homebirth and thinking about all options. What happens if you decide to transfer to hospital?

I am going in with you if you wish to transfer to hospital - ✅ if you do want me there. Yes. Absolutely. If you don't it's your call of course.

Because this is probably your most vulnerable moment in birth, and ditching you at this stage sends a clear signal: you're on your own now.

If you want me there, I'll be there.
💚Support without conditions on your birth choices. Always.

Shout out to - for honesty and integrity always.

Magdalena

Knowing how to articulate your needs and wishes in pregnancy and labour, and crucially practising this before birth is the most dangerous thing to the status quo of the current maternity services in the UK: informed mothers and parents do things that are right for them, individually and maybe don't suit the hospital protocol.
You need to ask yourself-at every step-for whom? For whom am I attending that appointment/accepting the offer of XYZ or saying yes to an intervention? Is it for you and your baby? Or perhaps to make that medical practitioner "happy" or "off your case"? To seem "nice", or not to "cause issues"? Or worse-because you're too tired, scared or intimidated to say no...
In an ideal world we wouldn't need to learn about self-advocacy and other birth skills simply for others to respect our birth wishes. And please don't get me wrong, there's plenty of nuance here too -there is a limit to what you can learn, and there is a limit to how it can look in a hospital environment .... Still, it takes honest, continuous prep to exercise your rights to bodily autonomy and decision making. Pregnancy and birth, so often infantilised by the medical providers, should not mean "going with the flow", unless it is your and your baby's flow of course.

Follow for birth prep and postpartum info, skills and courses.

Pregnancy + summer. If you're expecting your baby soon and you're after a back relief and some cool comfort here's what you could do with a larger paddling pool and an avocado float🤩

Or... You could use your birth pool and practice the set up with your birth partner and enjoy the comfort of a slightly cooler water.

Pregnancy in a heatwave. I see you love. I know it's not comfortable. Have a look at those simple tips that might help. Or perhaps it's a good chance to try out your birth pool, fill it with slightly cooler water than normally and enjoy the trial run 😍💖✨

One of my customers, Lili, left this review about my birth prep course: "It changed my perception of birth.

I would have been a ball of panic without the learning that Magdalena offered, breathing techniques, pain relief technique and how to prepare for challenging situations.

We had a physiological birth that I want to remember for all the right reasons!”.

😍Lili and her partner enjoyed their birth experience so much, they invited me into their space to refresh their birth skills before the birth of their second baby too.

💯 Not wanting to feel like a ball of panic in labour either?

Birth is all about being- and feeling. Often when I ask parents about their wishes for birth, I hear a list of things they want to avoid. " I don't want to tear. I don't want to be in pain. I don't want unnecessary interventions".

These are all valid of course.  What if we changed the perspective and started to prepare from "this is what I want" and working our way to support this?

What if we worked gradually to be more in tune with ourselves, our bodies, our babies?

Without relying on "thinking" the way out of any issues but rather feeling * into* what's needed in the moment?

Yeah. It is subtle but makes an enormous difference in later pregnancy stages and in labour.

How do you want to *feel*  in labour? Confident? Wild and free? Self empowered?  Respected?  Like a Queen? Instinctive and primal? Soft and supported?

If you're a mum/parent already let us know, what would you focus on in your pregnancy and birth? What feeling would you be looking to support?

Magdalena

All pregnancy and birth choices are yours to make.
Considering pain relief in labour is only a small part of the plan.

And I encourage you wholeheartedly to decide based on a wide range of reliable sources. To decide well in advance of your birth how you want to be supported.

Have a look at the last slide and the small picture in the circle...that's me holding my newborn, smelling the greatest, most pleasurable smell in the universe- my baby. At our own pace. In our own time. It was glorious. And so it can be for you. Choose with care.

Factors affecting your childbirth experience are very individual and multiple. That's why they're my baseline when I work with you in preparation for birth antenatally.
💕Each mother to be, each family has different needs and wishes. Hence, I adjust my antenatal sessions accordingly.

Respecting your individual circumstances is important in preparing and managing those factors that are in our control.
Of course, there will always be factors that may be beyond your control. Not every birth will be straightforward and it's important to be honest about it. 💕What matters though is the support you receive throughout. Being prepared, being held, centered, respected and supported well affects your birth experience greatly. And your birth experience matters so much because its impact is far reaching and intergenerational.

If you're interested in preparing well for your birth, and being supported by my individual, skilled and warm approach, please let me know.
I don't do scripts, pressure to buy or (Goddess forbid 😂) "addressing your possible objections".
Simply an honest chat with a human.

Magdalena
