πŸƒ Most running injuries are preventable.

That's not about blame. It's actually good news because it means they're often fixable too.

The most common causes we see are:

➑️ Doing too much too soon
➑️ Weak hips and glutes
➑️ Poor footwear choices
➑️ Skipping strength training

Running alone isn't always enough to keep your body resilient.

If you're dealing with recurring pain or a ni**le that won't clear, a physiotherapy assessment can identify exactly what's going on and help you get back on the road properly.

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Run stronger. Recover better. Stay injury free.

πŸ”Ή Hip pain and lower back stiffness are two of the most common problems we treat.

And they're almost always connected.

Your hips and lower back work as a team. When the hips become tight or weak, the lower back often steps in to compensate. Over time, that can lead to pain and stiffness that never seems to fully go away.

The solution is rarely just treating where it hurts.

A thorough assessment helps identify:
βœ… Where movement is restricted
βœ… Where weakness exists
βœ… What is driving the problem

By treating the cause rather than the symptom, we can help you move better and stay pain-free for longer.

If your back or hip pain keeps coming back, there's usually a reason.

πŸŽ‰ Welcome to the Team, Emma! πŸŽ‰

We're delighted to welcome Emma to the Indergaard Physiotherapy team.

Emma brings a wealth of experience, a passion for helping people move and feel better and plenty of energy to our clinics. Alongside her physiotherapy work, she's also a primary school teacher and mum of two, so she certainly knows how to stay busy!

When she's not helping patients, you'll likely find her:
🐢 Walking her mini sausage dog
πŸ–οΈ Enjoying a day at the beach
🧁 Baking something delicious
🐴 Spending time around horses
🎡 Heading to a gig
⚽ Cheering on Arsenal Women at the Emirates

A few quick facts about Emma:
β˜• Favourite drink: Iced decaf oat caramel latte
πŸŒ… Early bird or night owl? Morning person
πŸ“š Loves crime novels and books by women footballers
🍝 Favourite food: It's a close call between Thai food and spaghetti bolognese
🦁 Dream trip: An African Safari
πŸ• Team dog every time (although she does have a cat!)

We're thrilled to have Emma on board and know she'll be a fantastic addition to the Indergaard family.

Please join us in giving her a warm welcome in the comments! πŸ‘‡

Summer is great for your social life. Not always great for your routine.

Holidays, longer days and busier weekends mean the structure that keeps your body moving well can disappear quickly.
And when activity drops off suddenly, the body notices.
Stiffness creeps back in.
The progress you have made starts to slide.
You do not need to train through every holiday or stick rigidly to a schedule.
But keeping some movement going makes a real difference.

Even on busier weeks try to:
Walk more than you usually would
Keep one or two short sessions in your week
Do 10 minutes of mobility work in the morning
It does not have to be perfect. It just has to be consistent enough to keep your body ticking over.If stopping and starting is causing problems like stiffness, aches or recurring pain, it is worth getting assessed.

πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ What a day for the White Rose Classic! β˜€οΈ

Yesterday saw cyclists take on everything from the Short Route to the Epic Route, tackling some of Yorkshire's most famous climbs and enjoying the stunning scenery of the Yorkshire Dales.

Whether you completed 60km, 114km, 159km or the full 202km challenge, your legs have certainly earned a rest today!

If you're feeling a little sore, stiff or tight after yesterday's ride, now is the perfect time to think about recovery.

πŸ’† Sports Massage can help reduce muscle tension, improve recovery and get you feeling more comfortable.

🩺 Physiotherapy can help identify any ni**les or aches before they become bigger problems and support your training for the next challenge.

Recovery is just as important as the miles you put in.

So if your body is reminding you that you took on the Yorkshire Dales yesterday, we're here to help.

Worried that treatment might be painful?

It’s a common concern - but in most cases, treatment is designed to reduce pain, not make it worse.

You might feel some discomfort at times, but everything we do is tailored to your individual tolerance and comfort levels.

Your recovery should feel manageable, supported, and guided every step of the way.

Struggling with a stubborn injury that just will not go away?
Shockwave therapy might be exactly what you need.

It is one of the most effective treatments available for conditions like:
Plantar fasciitis
Achilles tendinopathy
Tennis elbow
Shoulder pain and calcification

It works by delivering targeted energy to the affected area, stimulating blood flow and triggering the body's natural healing response. Particularly helpful where tissue has become chronic and is no longer healing on its own.

It is a non-invasive treatment with a strong evidence base and it is available at Indergaard Physiotherapy.
If you have been dealing with ongoing pain that has not responded to other treatment, it is worth having a conversation about whether shockwave could help.
