Your physical capacity isn’t permanent.

Strength.
Fitness.
Mobility.
Capacity.

You have to maintain them. ⚠️

Life gets busy.
We train less.
We move less.
We ignore the ni**les.

And slowly, our capacity drops.

Until the things we love become harder.

Running.
Playing sport.
Keeping up with the kids.
Lifting.
Enjoying life without worrying about your body.

But here’s the important part:

Being injured doesn’t mean you have to stop training.

There is usually something you can work on.

Recover the injury.
Maintain your fitness.
Build your strength.
Keep progressing.

Don’t wait until you lose the ability to do the things you love.

Build the capacity to keep doing them. ❤️

Sunday reset 🏃‍♂️

How’s your body feeling after the week?

I know I’m definitely in need of a Sunday reset… having only just started training again 😂

Sunday is a good time to check in with your body before another week begins:
🔸 Got any ni**les you’ve been ignoring?
🔸 Is something feeling tighter than usual?
🔸 Are you changing the way you train because something doesn’t feel quite right?

It’s easy to think, “It’ll probably settle down.”
And sometimes it does.

But if a ni**le keeps coming back, starts affecting your training, or just doesn’t feel quite right, it’s worth getting it checked.
Don’t let a small problem turn into time away from the things you enjoy.

If something isn’t feeling right, we’re here to help. 🙌🏼

* 3 appointments remaining this week.

💬 Client Testimonial | Nick Townsend | Professional Goalkeeper 🧤⚽️

Birmingham City → Oxford City → Lincoln City → Barnsley → Solihull Moors → Newport County → Eastleigh

After suffering a complete biceps tendon rupture, Nick faced the physical and mental challenges of a long road back.

Through a progressive rehab programme, patience, and rebuilding confidence step by step, Nick was able to return to training and goalkeeping with confidence. 💪

His biggest message:
Trust the process, give your body time, and don’t underestimate the mental side of rehabilitation.

Swipe through to hear Nick’s experience and what helped him return stronger. 👆

Grateful to have worked with athletes like Nick and to be trusted with such an important part of their journey. 🙏

One of the hardest conversations I have is managing expectations.

We all want a quick fix, and if I genuinely believe your problem can be resolved with one appointment and a home exercise plan, that's exactly what I'll recommend.

However, the reality is that most of the people I see have been living with pain for weeks, months or even years. These problems are often influenced by strength, movement, work, sport, stress, sleep or lifestyle. They don't develop overnight, so they rarely disappear overnight either.

The same goes for acute injuries. Pain may settle relatively quickly, but that doesn't necessarily mean the injury has fully recovered. Quality rehabilitation is about restoring strength, movement, confidence and resilience, so you're not just out of pain, but less likely to suffer the same injury again.

One area that's often overlooked is the final stage of rehabilitation. Many people complete their clinic-based rehab and feel much better, but stop before they've prepared their body for the demands of their sport or job. Pain-free doesn't always mean you're ready to return to full performance.

That's where STAT Sports GPS technology helps us bridge the gap. We can objectively measure and progressively build the physical demands of running, work and sport, helping you return with confidence.

Whether your goal is getting back onto the pitch, back to a physically demanding job, or simply moving without fear of re-injury, we can make sure you're truly ready. 🔥

My approach is always focused on providing the right care at the right time. It's about helping you recover properly, giving you the knowledge, tools and exercises to manage your health long-term, and supporting you through your recovery journey for as long as you need.

Recovery isn't always quick—but when it's done properly, it's built to last. 💪

Therapyworks Tip-off series #4: Why single-leg strength matters

Football and rugby are mainly played on one leg. 🦵

💭 Think about:
⚽ Sprinting
⚽ Kicking
⚽ Tackling
🏉 Changing direction
🏉 Landing after a jump

Single-leg strength helps improve:
✅ Balance
✅ Power
✅ Stability
✅ Control

Useful exercises include:
➡️ Split squats
➡️ Step-ups
➡️ Single-leg bridges
➡️ Single-leg deadlifts

Building strength on each leg helps athletes move better and cope with the demands of sport. 💪

If you keep getting recurring injuries or want to improve athletic performance, an assessment can identify the areas that need developing.

Strong legs. Better movement. Better performance. 💪

💥 Build power. Build resilience. Perform better.

Learning the fundamentals of strength training and movement from a young age gives athletes a head start. Sport is a long journey—the best athlete today won't always be the best tomorrow. Those who train consistently and build resilience are the ones who keep progressing.

Whether they play football, rugby, hockey, basketball, netball or cricket, a structured strength and conditioning programme helps develop power, movement quality and resilience.

Why wait until there's a problem? 🤷‍♂️ Build the foundations for performance before injury gets in the way.

Does your gym session look like this? 👀

A successful gym session isn’t just about lifting weights—it’s about preparing your body to perform, reducing injury risk, and getting the most out of every exercise.

This is why every session I design includes:
🔹 Warm-up – Increases heart rate, improves circulation, and prepares your muscles and joints for training.
🔹 Dynamic mobility – Improves movement quality, helps you achieve better positions, and can reduce unnecessary strain on the body.
🔹 Balance & stability – Builds control, coordination, and joint stability, creating a solid foundation for strength and athletic performance.
🔹 Strength & power – Develops force production, resilience, and performance while addressing individual weaknesses and sport-specific demands.

When these elements are combined in a structured programme, you’re not just training harder—you’re training smarter.

🤔 You’d be surprised how many amateur and even semi-professional athletes I see who train without a structured plan. If that’s you, you’re not alone—but having a programme with purpose can make a huge difference to your performance, recovery, and long-term progress.

Does your gym session look like this? 🤔

If you’re making it up as you go, you could be missing key components that help improve performance and keep you training consistently.

Send me a message if you’d like help building one that’s tailored to your goals.

Therapyworks Tip-off series #3: Why ankle strength matters ? 🤔

Your ankles are your foundation. ❤️

Every sprint, jump, tackle and change of direction starts with your feet and ankles. 🦶

Strong ankles help with:
✅ Balance
✅ Power transfer
✅ Stability
✅ Confidence after previous injuries

Many athletes only train the big muscles—but neglect the smaller muscles that control movement.

Useful exercises:
➡️ Single-leg balance
➡️ Calf raises
➡️ Hopping drills
➡️ Controlled landing exercises

Especially after an ankle sprain, rebuilding strength and control is essential to reduce the chance of repeat injuries.

If ankle problems keep affecting your sport, a proper assessment can identify what needs improving.

Strong foundations create better athletes. ⚽🏉
