As we wrap up our final Amalfi Hour of the summer, allow us to introduce you to the artist behind our art workshops: Rob Schofield, our Life Enrichment & Wellbeing Lead.

Before joining KYN, Rob spent 25 years working in international humanitarian aid, in locations like Afghanistan, Syria and South Sudan - which he describes as a fascinating chapter, rich with experience.

Now, paintbrush in hand, Rob helps residents rediscover a talent many already have. Several of our residents are genuinely accomplished artists, and with a little encouragement, plenty are returning to painting and drawing at KYN Hurlingham.

Rob’s own passion is oil painting – bold canvases of fruit and vegetables, celebrating colour and form. His work has shown at Wandsworth Open House and hangs in homes from Australia to Africa.

A relaxed afternoon at KYN Bickley last week, enjoying some of the most iconic classic cars ever made.

A special collection was delivered to the drive for residents and their guests to enjoy up close, including a 1973 Aston Martin Vantage – the “Bond car,” with its straight-six engine – a 1968 Mercedes Pagoda convertible, a beautifully designed German classic, and a 1973 Citroën DS, the distinctive French icon loved for its style and innovation. Plenty of stories about the open road swapped along the way.

Every Friday this August, KYN Hurlingham gets a little taste of Italy.

Last week’s gathering was such a treat – lemon cannoli, Caprese, mini pizzas and taralli, along with good company and plenty of stories about Italian coastlines and holidays gone by. Italian cellist Giovanni joined us to play some traditional pieces, rounding off a lovely afternoon.

Last week’s summer garden party at KYN Bickley was exactly the kind of afternoon we look forward to all year.

For our forth year running, the event has become one of the highlights of our social calendar. Residents and friends gathered on the lawn for an afternoon of live music, food fresh from the BBQ, and refreshing drinks in the sun.

Our thanks to the team for another wonderful afternoon, and to all our residents and guests who joined us to make it such a memorable day.
