Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. But does everyone know what that means in practice?
Whether working in a care home, domiciliary care agency, healthcare setting or school, recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns is essential.
Effective safeguarding goes beyond completing mandatory training. It's about creating a culture where concerns are recognised, people feel safe to speak up, and staff know what action to take.
We've published an updated guide exploring:
✅ Why safeguarding matters in health and social care
✅ The different types of abuse and neglect
✅ The six principles of adult safeguarding
✅ How to recognise, report and escalate concerns
✅ Safeguarding responsibilities across different job roles
✅ Choosing the right safeguarding training for care workers, managers, healthcare professionals and education staff
One important point: Not everyone needs the same safeguarding training. Learning should reflect the individual's role, responsibilities and working environment.
For care providers, this means ensuring staff have the appropriate knowledge, clear reporting procedures and confidence to act when concerns arise.
