What’s the difference between purging and inflammation?

When introducing an advanced retinoid into your skincare routine, it’s common to experience purging – in other words, a breakout or worsening of existing acne. This is part of the process and is nothing to worry about.

If purging hasn’t eased after six weeks or you’re experiencing inflammation (redness, soreness, burning or stinging that worsens over time) your treatment may be too strong.
