Unique and NHS South East Genomic Medicine Service are hosting a webinar on Wednesday 16 September, 12:00 - 13:00, to launch their new guide: Finding Your Way: A Parent’s Guide to Rare Disease.

Participant Panel members Adam Clatworthy and Melanie Dixon helped write the guide, and in the webinar will share their personal experiences and journeys to finding the right support following their children’s rare disease diagnoses.

Jessica and Dominic joined the Generation Study without expecting it would have a direct impact on their family.

But when their baby son Revan was found to have a gene change associated with ALD, a rare genetic condition, it led to testing for his older brother, Thorin, too.

Both boys are now being monitored regularly, giving doctors the chance to spot any changes early, before symptoms may appear, giving the family clear information and a plan for the future.

“We feel incredibly lucky to know,” says their mum, Jessica. “We would never have known otherwise.”
