What is the treatment process using donor eggs? 🌱
Starting donor egg treatment can feel like a big step, but understanding the process can make the journey feel much more manageable. Here's what you can expect:
1️⃣ Initial consultation and fertility investigations
Your journey begins with a consultation with one of our fertility specialists. We'll review your medical and fertility history, discuss any previous treatment, recommend investigations (such as hormone testing, ultrasound scans, semen analysis or genetic screening), and create a personalised treatment plan.
2️⃣ Completing your donor preferences
You'll complete a characteristics form to help us identify the most suitable donor match. This may include preferences such as ethnicity, physical characteristics, medical background and other personal information available under UK regulations.
3️⃣ Matching with an egg donor
Once you're approved for treatment, our specialist team will match you with a suitable donor from our UK-based donor programme. You'll receive comprehensive non-identifying information to help you feel confident in your match.
4️⃣ Fertilisation and embryo creation
When your donor's eggs are collected, they're fertilised straight away using either partner or donor s***m in our laboratory, allowing embryos to begin developing immediately.
5️⃣ Embryo freezing and transfer
Embryos are carefully cultured and frozen before transfer. Your consultant will prepare your womb lining before your embryo transfer and any suitable remaining embryos can be frozen for future treatment.
Choosing donor egg treatment is both a medical and emotional journey. That's why we provide counselling and ongoing support throughout your treatment, ensuring you feel informed, supported and confident from your first consultation to embryo transfer and beyond.
Every fertility journey is unique and we're here to help you navigate yours with expert care and compassion.
