Company Profile

CES (formerly known as Special Projects Security) was founded in 1989 in direct response to the Governments call for improvements in safety at football grounds in the wake of the Hillsborough disaster and the ensuing Taylor Report. The company's first and now longest standing client is Manchester United Football Club. It was quickly realized however that the valuable lessons and principals learnt from managing large crowds at Old Trafford could be applied in other arenas and venues. Consequently CES began to expand its business to those areas where large crowds came together for the purposes of watching sport or entertainment, and where customer safety was the primary consideration. Consequently, we place great emphasis on the interpersonal skills of our staffÂ to ensure that they are able to deliver the highest standards of customer care and service within our varying environments. The provision of highly trained, accredited and licensed safety and security personnel to the sports, leisure and entertainment industry still remains the 'core' business of the group through CES. However, that company has now grown from its original mission statement through the incorporation of Controlled Guarding Solutions to include the guarding of sports, leisure and ancillary facilities (including key holding services), and Controlled Training Solutions, providing recognized training and accredited qualifications.

At Controlled Solutions Group we have been working with the Ingeus and Realise teams for a little while now. Helping candidates understand the practicalities of working within the security industry. Also to be able to offer them positions, some permanent, some casual work, that fits around lives. At Controlled Solutions Group we can offer that, sometimes over nearly 1000 shifts per day just in and around the greater Manchester region. Last week saw the first all female course get inducted and orientated at the CSG Manchester United operation. Now we are seeing the rewards. Staff who are trained to a high level, with great communication skills taking up positions on our operations.
The most rewarding part is seeing these people who just needed a little help, realise their potential. lan Hawley and the team take a bow, your enthusiasm is infectious.

We just wanted to say thank you, for all staff that worked the NSPPD 2026 event on Saturday, it was a challenging, long day. The professionalism and adaptability you showed though some extremely difficult circumstances doesn’t go unrecognised. Our client, MUFC and CSG wanted to show our appreciation, working closely with the event organiser, the UK Prayer Conference, it was difficult organising an event on that scale at the Old Trafford Stadium.
However, CSG showed their ability to adapt and overcome, to ensure a safe and successful event.
We just wanted to say thank you and well done!
It doesn’t go unrecognised; we are proud of our achievements and how we supported MUFC in delivering the NSPPD 2026 event.

An amazing partnership for Controlled Solutions Group and the Restart scheme to help women drive a career in the security industry. We are lucky to work with lan Hawley and the Ingeus team to offer support, guidance and case studies of career success for women in the industry. We also enable casual and permanent roles for some amazing candidates all across the Greater Manchester region. With the support of Paul Bent and the Realise team who are training the candidates to such a high standard we are able to onboard, process and deploy quality women across all CSG operation - a win win for CSG and the amazing ladies from government backed Restart scheme!

CSG’s management staff summer social event took place at Muncaster Castle

An absolutely Beautiful venue with Amazing hard working staff.

From Axe throwing, archery, crossbow to Falconry and Owl displays.

Muncaster Castle in Cumbria has been home to the Pennington family for over 800 years. Built upon Roman foundations, the site evolved from a 14th-century border pele tower into a Victorian Gothic-styled mansion, overseen by the family without ever being sold.

1st of many fixtures here, weather is dry and thanks to all the staff who turned up, excited for things to come, a little friendly fixture against Dundee to help all our staff get their bearings around a new stadium.
