With Father’s Day just over a week away, our thoughts are with all those families whose dad is no longer with them.

This can be an extra difficult day, especially for those whose father has passed more recently.

Will you be doing something special in remembrance of your dad?

We have some wildflower seeds available in our office, which could maybe be grown in your garden or scattered in a special place in memory of him.

We bring the sad news that Margaret Shepard, formerly of Longborough, passed away on the 30th May, aged 95 years.
She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.

A Service of Thanksgiving in celebration of Margaret's life will take place in St James' Church, Longborough on Friday 10th July at 11:00am.

Donations in memory of Margaret will be gratefully received for Cotswold Friends and can be made in the collection box at the service, sent by post to us at Allen & Son, or online using the link below:

This weekend, it is our 4-year anniversary of becoming the very proud owners of Allen & Son.

During this time, we have met and guided many families who have entrusted their loved ones into our care when making their funeral arrangements. Some new, and some returning to us, having cared for family members previously.

We both feel it is a great honour and privilege to be able to guide and support families during this very difficult time, whilst, of course, caring for their loved one with the utmost dignity and respect.

A big thank you to our great team of support staff who help us to provide our services – we could not do what we do without them.

We have continued to hold our regular coffee mornings, which we know many of you enjoy attending – especially sampling all the delicious home baked cakes, and trying your luck on the tombola and raffle! You have all helped us raise just under £5000.00 for Cotswolds Friends so far – THANK YOU!!

To all the families we have assisted, we thank you so much for supporting our small business. This year is expected to be one of the hottest on record, with this month hitting all-time highs.

All of this heat has meant James has been giving our hanging baskets and pots extra care and more frequent watering, which has really helped them thrive, showing a little extra care can really make a difference.

This is, of course, true throughout life with all things, friends and family. I saw this little quote, which I felt reflected this...

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around".
