A quick IWSS FAQ 🐝

We’ve had a few questions about the In Work Support Service, so I wanted to explain what it is, who it may be aimed at, and what the first step is.

The In Work Support Service is a Welsh Government funded service that may be available to eligible people whose health is affecting their ability to work, or who are at risk of needing time off work.

It may be particularly relevant if you are self-employed or work for a small to medium-sized business.

If accepted, IWSS can fund up to 6 sessions of chiropractic or osteopathy care at The Hive Health.

The sessions are fully funded, so there is no upfront payment required for accepted IWSS appointments.

We do not decide eligibility at The Hive. The first step is to contact RCS, as they manage eligibility and referrals for the service.

If you are not sure whether this is for you, it is worth checking with RCS rather than ruling yourself out.

Each month our clinic raises money and awareness for local charities and organisations.

Last month we supported the National Autistic Society (NPT Branch) and raised £247.78.

This month we are raising for Ysgol Hendrefelin.

As always, we have books available in the waiting room, as well as handmade crafts 🐝

We’re really excited to share that The Hive Health is now an approved provider for the In Work Support Service — IWSS.

Through IWSS, eligible people may be able to access fully funded chiropractic or osteopathy care with us, for up to 6 sessions.

The aim is to help people who are struggling with work because of pain, injury or a work-limiting muscle or joint problem — whether that means helping you stay in work, or supporting you as you return to work after time off.

This may include things like back pain, neck pain, repetitive strain injury, or other physical problems that are making work harder than it needs to be.

We’re excited to be at PureGym Neath on Monday 6th July, offering free 15-minute aches and pains advice appointments for PureGym members.

These appointments are a chance to ask questions about things like back pain, neck pain, sports injuries or gym-related aches, and to understand your options.

Please note: these are advice appointments only, so treatment won’t be provided during the session.

One of the lovely things about seeing people regularly is that over time, we get to know what works well for them.

We know which areas tend to stiffen up first.
Which techniques they respond best to.
Whether their neck prefers a gentler approach, or whether their lower back needs a bit more movement.

But equally importantly, we get to know them as people too.

We know when work has been stressful.
When sleep has been poor.
When they’re juggling family life, exams, caring responsibilities, or just a lot mentally.

Because real life can show up physically too.

Often, tension, headaches, jaw pain, aching shoulders or flare-ups can build during periods where someone has simply been carrying a lot.

That’s why hands-on care works best when it’s combined with understanding the bigger picture 🐝

Our memberships are simply an option for patients who find they feel and function better with a bit more consistency.

For some people, that’s staying on top of recurring aches and tension.
For others, it’s about maintaining progress, supporting busy lifestyles, or making time for their health more regularly.

Everything is managed in-house by our team, completely month by month, with no long-term contracts.
