💜 What an incredible and heartwarming story.

Huge congratulations to Biscovey Academy, who have received an Epilepsy Star Award from Epilepsy Action for the outstanding care and support they have provided to five-year-old Grace during her first year at school. 🌟

Rather than allowing Grace’s epilepsy diagnosis to hold her back, the school took a proactive approach from the very beginning — ensuring staff were trained, prepared and able to support her so she could enjoy school life alongside her friends.

From school trips and sports day to climbing frames and even a starring role in the Christmas play, Grace has been able to take part in everything school has to offer. 💜

This is a wonderful reminder of just how important training, knowledge and confidence can be. When those around a child understand their condition and know how to respond, it can make an enormous difference — not just to the child, but to their entire family.

Well done to everyone at Biscovey Primary Academy for creating such a supportive and inclusive environment. 👏

Five-year-old Grace had her first seizure five months before she was due to start school. Her mum Lyndsey Lloyd remembers bracing for what that timing might mean, a delayed start, part-time days, weeks of her daughter's first term missed while staff caught up on training. None of that happened, and....

❤️ Do you know your numbers?

This week is Know Your Numbers Week – a reminder of just how important it is to understand your blood pressure. 🩺

High blood pressure often has no obvious symptoms, which is why it’s sometimes called the “silent killer”. The only way to know if your blood pressure is high is to have it checked.

Knowing your numbers could help you spot potential problems early and give you the opportunity to make positive changes to protect your health. ❤️

Take a few minutes this week to check your blood pressure and encourage those around you to do the same.

This is why first aid training matters. ❤️

We recently received this incredible update from a learner who has recently had training with us🌟

A member of staff who had recently completed training was first on scene at a bike accident where the individual appeared to not be breathing. Alongside another member of the public, they began CPR and continued until the emergency services arrived.

A defibrillator was also used several times to help restart the person’s heart before they were taken to Treliske.

And the best news? They have now found out that the person survived and is well. ❤️

This is an incredible reminder that the skills you learn in a first aid course really can make a difference when it matters most.

You never know when you may be the person who is there when someone needs help.

A huge well done to everyone involved. 👏❤️

🚑 Why is first aid so important?

You never know when you might need it.

It could be at home, at work, or while out with friends and family. In an emergency, the actions taken before professional help arrives can make a huge difference.

First aid isn’t about being a medical professional or knowing everything. It’s about having the confidence to recognise when something is wrong, call 999 and help until the emergency services arrive.

You hope you’ll never need to use these skills…

But one day, the person who needs your help could be someone you love. ❤️

❤️ A brilliant reminder of why defibrillators matter.

We loved seeing this post from BBC Cornwall highlighting the incredible Defib Guardians looking after defibrillators in some of the UK’s most remote locations. 💪

From Lundy Island to St Agnes in the Isles of Scilly, it’s fantastic to see communities making sure lifesaving equipment is available when it’s needed most.

A defibrillator can be the difference between life and death following a cardiac arrest — so having one accessible, checked and ready to use really does matter. ❤️

And a huge thank you to all those who volunteer their time to look after these vital pieces of equipment. 👏

❤️ FIRST AID FACT: Do you know the difference?

Cardiac arrest and a heart attack are not the same thing — but knowing the difference could help you recognise an emergency and act quickly.

🫀 Heart attack: A blockage stops blood flowing to part of the heart. The person is usually conscious and breathing.

⚡ Cardiac arrest: The heart suddenly stops pumping blood effectively. The person becomes unresponsive and is not breathing normally.

A heart attack can sometimes lead to a cardiac arrest, which is why knowing what to do matters.
