โ๏ธ๐ถ WEATHER WARNING FOR DOG OWNERS ๐ถโ๏ธ
With temperatures reaching highs of 31ยฐC in Cornwall, weโre urging pet owners to take extra precautions to keep dogs safe in the heat.
Heatstroke can develop rapidly and can be life-threatening. Dogs are especially vulnerable during warm weather, particularly brachycephalic breeds (frenchies, pugs, boxers), older dogs, overweight pets, and those with underlying health conditions.
โ ๏ธ Signs of heatstroke include:
โข Excessive panting
โข Drooling
โข Lethargy or weakness
โข Vomiting or diarrhoea
โข Collapse or seizures
โ
How to keep your dog safe:
โข Walk dogs early morning or late evening
โข Avoid hot pavements! If itโs too hot for your hand, itโs too hot for paws
โข Never leave dogs in cars, even for a few minutes
โข Ensure constant access to shade and fresh water
โข Skip intense exercise during peak heat
๐จ If you suspect heatstroke:
Move your dog to a cool area, use cool (not ice-cold) water on their body, and contact your vet immediately.
Please help us spread the message and keep pets safe during the hot weather. ๐๐พ
