IRATA Level 3 Rope Access Supervisors have an important responsibility: being prepared to respond when something goes wrong.

IRATA General Requirements / TACS makes the requirement clear:

“Level 3 rope access technicians must be holders of an appropriate first aid certificate.” (Clause 14.1)

It also states:

“Level 3 rope access technicians and employing companies are both responsible for ensuring that first aid certificates are appropriate and current during operational duties.” (Clause 14.2)

The Level 3 syllabus likewise requires technicians to hold “an appropriate current first aid certificate”. This aligns with the IRATA International Code of Practice (ICOP).

At ACMS Training, our 1-day and 3-day First Aid courses are delivered by a former Doctor and teacher, ensuring practical, relevant and confident learning.

Our Head of Centre is also a qualified First Aider and a former Rope Access Manager and Technical Authority, so we understand the operational demands of rope access work.

Need to renew or arrange first aid training for your team? We’re here to help.

Would you know how to stop a life-threatening bleed?

Every second counts in a major trauma. On Wednesday, 29th April 2026, we’re supporting Stop the Bleed Day to empower our workplaces and communities with life-saving skills.

Bleeding control: whether through direct pressure or using a tourniquet: is a critical skill that saves lives before emergency services arrive. Being prepared turns bystanders into lifesavers.

Ready to upskill your team? You can download free training resources, including lesson plans and presentation slides, at https://stopthebleedday.uk/downloads/. These materials are designed for running short, impactful safety briefings in your workplace.

Important: If you use these free resources, there is a requirement to complete a short pre- and post-session survey to help the campaign measure its impact.

As an IOSH-accredited training centre, ACMS Training is committed to ensuring you have the practical skills to work confidently and safely. Let’s make our community safer together.

Did you know women are significantly less likely to receive bystander CPR in public than men? 🚨

It’s a sobering statistic fueled by hesitation: often a fear of 'inappropriate' contact or the need to remove clothing. But when a heart stops, every second counts. The life-saving message is clear: 'Bra Off, Defib On.'

For a defibrillator to work effectively, pads must have direct skin contact. Removing a bra is a necessary step. While it might feel awkward, in an emergency, privacy must come second to a pulse.

At ACMS Training, we’re here to break down these barriers. Our accredited courses tackle real-world scenarios and misconceptions, ensuring you feel confident and ready to act without hesitation.

Don’t let uncertainty cost a life. Whether you’re an individual or a business looking to upskill, we’re here to help you gain the practical skills that matter.

Let’s connect and make our workplaces safer for everyone. 💓

Does your workplace first aid preparation stop at a dusty green box in the kitchen? 🧐

If so, it’s time to talk about the First Aid Needs Assessment. 📋

It’s not just a "tick-box" exercise; it’s your blueprint for workplace safety. Here’s a peek at what should be on yours:
✅ Nature of hazards: Are you in a quiet office or a high-risk workshop?
✅ Size of your team: More people = more provision.
✅ Work patterns: Do you have enough first aiders for the night shift?
✅ Proximity to help: How far are you from the nearest A&E?

Getting this right means that when an emergency happens, you aren’t just "compliant": you’re actually prepared.

Need help filling in the blanks or training up your designated first aiders? We’ve got you covered with our IOSH-accredited and NUCO-approved courses.

Think your 3-person team is too small for "Working at Height" regulations? Think again.

If you’re a team of 1 to 5, you are the business. Whether it’s a quick gutter clean or changing a light bulb on a ladder, the Working at Height Regulations 2005 apply the second there’s a risk of a fall: regardless of your company size. For a micro-business, one accident isn’t just a safety report; it’s a potential business-ender.

Compliance isn't just for the big players. At ACMS Training, we’ve been supporting local businesses in Norwich since 2002. We provide practical, hands-on training that ensures your team is "competent" in the eyes of the law, keeping them safe and keeping your business protected.

Safety doesn’t have to be a box-ticking exercise. It’s about making sure everyone goes home safely at the end of the day.

Ready to get your team certified? Let’s connect.

First aid needs assessment : if someone asked for yours tomorrow, what would you hand over?

It's not just a document. It's your justification: your workplace's specific risks, staff numbers, shift patterns, location, and the first aid provision you've put in place to match them. The HSE expects you to review it regularly : and to be able to explain your decisions.

If you're not sure yours would stand up to scrutiny, we can help. ✔️

💛 World Su***de Prevention Day 2026

Today at ACMS Training, we’ve been supporting World Su***de Prevention Day, helping to raise awareness, encourage conversations around su***de and mental health, and remind people that support is available.

A big thank you to Norfolk and Waveney Mind for providing us with their “Hope Lives Here” flyers and awareness posters, which we’ve been displaying and sharing at our Norwich Training Centre.

As a training provider delivering First Aid for Mental Health courses for both adults and young people, we know how important it is to give people the confidence to start conversations, recognise when someone may be struggling, and know where they can turn for further support.

Su***de prevention isn’t something that should only be talked about for one day. By continuing to raise awareness, challenge stigma and encourage open conversations, we can all play a part in helping someone feel heard and supported.

💙 Hope lives here.

Thank you again Norfolk & Waveney Mind for the resources and for the work you continue to do supporting mental health across our local communities.
