Tonight we held our first staff tour of what will become the new cemetery at Nottinghamshire Memorial Park.

It was a great opportunity to walk the site, see how the development is taking shape, and gain a better understanding of the plans for the future. Staff were also able to view the start of the Sky Barrows and see the footprint of the traditional Barrow, helping to bring the vision for this unique space.

It gave a fascinating insight into what will soon become a beautiful and peaceful place of remembrance.

We are planning a public open event to give members of the community the opportunity to see the site and learn more about the project. Further details will be announced shortly, so keep an eye on our page for updates.

Congratulations to Jordan on reaching an impressive five years of service with A W Lymn The Craftsmen in Stone.

Jordan first joined the team in 2020 on an eight-week trial after previously working in a factory producing car cleaning products in Calverton. At the time, he was looking forward to a role that would get him out and about, learning a completely new trade. He also had the unique experience of working alongside his dad, Dean, better known to many as "Spud", who helped show him the ropes in his early days as a stonemason.

Over the past five years, Jordan has developed into a highly valued member of the team. His hard work and commitment have seen him progress through the department, and he now proudly serves as Deputy Foreman.

We thank him for his contribution over the last five years and look forward to seeing what the future holds.

This month we’re pleased to celebrate Becky Hogg, from our Rainworth funeral home, as she celebrates five years with the company.

Over the past five years, Becky has developed her skills and knowledge within the funeral profession. In 2024, she achieved her Certificate in Funeral Arranging and Administration, earning the highest marks in her year, before gaining her Diploma in Funeral Directing in 2025. She also joined the National Association of Funeral Directors’ Board of Learning and Development in the same year.

With her background in teaching, alongside her patience and supportive approach, Rainworth has also become a funeral home where new funeral arrangers spend time learning the “Lymn’s Way” of arranging a funeral under Becky’s guidance.

Thank you, Becky, for your hard work over the last five years.

What a fantastic milestone and partnership 👏

We are incredibly proud of the long-standing relationship between Nottingham Hospitals Charity and ourselves, and the difference that the donations we process, have made to so many patients and families over the past 20 years.

Supporting vital areas such as Hayward House, research and even staff kettles, means a great deal to us, and it is amazing to see the positive impact highlighted.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed through funeral donations, your generosity continues to help enhance care and facilities across our amazing hospitals. 💙🩷

Children at Funerals – What Do You Think?

We recently came across an interesting article in British Vogue discussing whether children should attend funerals. A topic that often brings out strong and differing views.

Even within our own profession, opinions vary.

Some feel that involving children can help them understand loss, say goodbye and feel included. Others believe funerals can be overwhelming for younger minds and may not always be the right environment.

As a family orientated company, we understand that every family is different. Ultimately, we believe the decision should rest with the parents or guardians, taking into account the individual child - their age, understanding and emotional readiness.

There is no “right” or “wrong” answer, only what feels right for your family.

We would be interested to hear your thoughts.
💬 Do you think children should attend funerals, or not?

“In my experience,” writes Nell Frizzell, “children are in many ways far more comfortable and competent at considering death than their adult counterparts.”
