Maternal Mental Health Week 🤍

Maternal mental health matters — not just for you, but for your whole family. When you feel supported, heard, and cared for, it creates a stronger foundation for both you and your baby. Your wellbeing isn’t a luxury, it’s essential.

Looking after your mental health in motherhood doesn’t have to mean big, overwhelming changes. Often, it’s the small, consistent acts of care that make the biggest difference.

Here are some gentle ways to support yourself:

• Ask for help — and let yourself receive it. You don’t have to do this alone, even if it feels like you “should”.

• Prioritise rest and sleep where you can. Even small moments of rest count.

• Stay connected. A message, a call, a quick chat — you’re not meant to navigate this in isolation.

• Create small moments for you. A cup of tea in peace, a few minutes of quiet, something that feels like you.

• Get outside daily. Fresh air and a change of scenery can shift more than you expect.

• Limit comparison. Your journey is your own — social media rarely shows the full picture.

• Nourish your body. Eating regularly and staying hydrated supports both your physical and emotional wellbeing.

• Talk it out — don’t keep it in. Sharing how you feel can lighten the load and help you feel understood.

You deserve support, space, and care too 🤍

At Serenity CBT, we offer 1:1 and group support for parents in the postnatal period — a space to talk, process, and feel less alone.

Following today’s Push for Paternity march organised by .wmn for improved paternity leave rights, it felt important to highlight something — our support isn’t just for mums.

Fathers and non-birthing partners can face huge emotional and psychological challenges in the postnatal period too. From sleep deprivation and increased responsibility, to feeling overlooked, pressure to “stay strong,” and navigating changes in identity and relationships — it can be a lot to carry, often quietly.

At Serenity CBT, we offer tailored CBT support not only for mothers, but for fathers, and non-birthing partners too. Whether it’s managing anxiety, low mood, overwhelm, or adjusting to the realities of parenthood, you don’t have to do it alone.

Because when parents feel supported, families thrive.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is pause.

In the postnatal period, it’s easy to put yourself at the bottom of the list—but choosing to turn towards your own needs isn’t selfish, it’s essential. Taking small, intentional steps to support your mental wellbeing can make a real difference, not just for you, but for the environment your baby is growing in.

When you feel calmer, more supported, and more like yourself, that sense of safety and steadiness naturally flows into your baby’s world too 🤍

You deserve care, rest, and space to heal—right alongside your baby.

At Serenity CBT, we offer both 1:1 and group therapy for parents in the postnatal period—because you don’t have to navigate this on your own 🤍

Just as you start to find your rhythm, everything shifts again.

In the postnatal period, change is constant—sleep, routines, feeding, your baby’s needs… even how you feel from one day to the next. It can leave you feeling unsettled, like you’re always one step behind.

If this resonates, you’re not doing anything wrong. This is the nature of this stage.

Rather than trying to “keep up” with every change, it can help to focus on what’s within your control—being present, responding as best you can, and giving yourself permission not to have it all figured out.

At Serenity CBT, we support parents in navigating this ever-changing season with compassion and practical tools to help you feel more grounded, even when things feel uncertain.

Postnatal anxiety can switch your mind into overdrive—constantly scanning for danger.
Learning to step back from those thoughts (rather than react to them) can help you feel more in control.

CBT can support you in doing exactly this—helping you notice anxious thoughts, question them, and respond in a calmer, more balanced way 🤍

The part of motherhood no one talks about…
is how normal it is to feel anxious, touched out, exhausted—and still deeply in love all at the same time.

At Serenity CBT, we make space for this part of motherhood.
The messy, conflicting, very human side of it.

We’re here to support parents in navigating these common challenges and emotions—so you don’t have to feel alone in them 🤍

We offer both remote 1:1 CBT therapy and postnatal group support, for whenever you feel ready to reach out.

Meet the faces behind Serenity CBT 🤍

We’re Ella and Sarah—mums to small people and the therapists behind our postnatal wellbeing group.

Between us, we’re not only trained CBT therapists, but we also have lived experience of the postnatal period. We understand first-hand just how challenging, overwhelming, and emotional this time can be. In fact, Sarah is very much still in the postpartum period 🤍

Our passion for supporting parents comes from both our professional training and our own journeys through motherhood. We bring empathy, understanding, and evidence-based support into everything we offer—because we truly get it.

You don’t have to navigate this season alone. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Healing after birth isn’t a quick bounce back — it’s a gradual, often unseen process that takes time. Longer than you might expect, and that’s okay.

And the truth is, our bodies may not “bounce back” at all—and they’re not meant to. They may look different, feel different, carry stretch marks or changes that tell the story of what they’ve been through. You’re not meant to go back—you’ve moved forward.

Your body has done something incredible. Your mind is adjusting to a whole new world. There’s no deadline for feeling like “you” again.

Be gentle with yourself. Rest when you can. Lower the pressure. You’re not behind—you’re recovering 🤍

And if you need support along the way, Serenity CBT is here alongside you—offering therapy, guidance, and gentle tools to help you through your postnatal recovery.
