Another glimpse into our archives.

This photograph, taken in 2015, captures our current owner, David Albery, alongside the wonderful Ali Redstone. The occasion marked an important milestone in the history of the business, as David purchased the Redstone business from the Redstone family and Ali began a well-earned retirement. At the time David, a born and raised Devon lad, with many years already in the funeral profession already had established his office in Okehampton, trading under the name of Okehampton & District Funeral Service, and this union reinforced our local heritage.

For many years, the Redstone name had been synonymous with caring for local families, and we remain proud to continue that legacy today. As we look back on moments such as these, we are reminded of the heritage, dedication and community spirit that have helped shape our funeral service into what it is today.

We extend our sincere thanks to Ali and the Redstone family for the foundations they built and the trust they placed in us to carry their legacy forward for future generations. ❤️

A glimpse into our archives.

Pictured here is Keith Redstone alongside the Reverend Louis Baycock, leading the funeral of the late Mrs Aggett of Gidleigh in 1991.

As a long-established independent funeral director serving our local communities, we are immensely proud of the heritage, traditions and values that have been passed down through the generations. The photograph captures the traditional method of carrying the coffin using carrying poles.

Remarkably, the very same carrying poles seen in this photograph were handcrafted by Keith Redstone and remain in use today, continuing a tradition of personal care and craftsmanship that has been part of our service for decades.

While much has changed over the years, our commitment to providing compassionate, professional and traditional funeral care remains as strong as ever. It is a privilege to continue serving the families of our community, honouring the past while caring for future generations.

Forty-five mile per hour gusts, driving rain, and challenging weather conditions will not deter us from maintaining the highest standards of care and presentation.

Today, our hearse received its final preparation ahead of Monday’s funeral service for a much-loved gentleman. We believe that every detail matters, and it is our privilege to ensure that everything is immaculate and ready to serve a family at such an important time.

Whatever the weather, our commitment to those who place their trust in us remains unwavering.

Today we are North Devon bound, conducting the funeral service of a much-loved gentleman at the beautiful All Saints Church, Clovelly.

Clovelly is a truly special place. Privately owned by the Rous family, it is renowned for its steep cobbled street leading down to the harbour, its timeless charm, and of course its famous donkeys.

It is always a privilege to serve families in such unique and beautiful locations, helping them to celebrate and honour the life of someone they love.
