This is a really positive aim 👏🏽 For many neurodivergent children, “the best start in life” links very closely to what their everyday school experience feels like... whether they feel understood, supported, and able to cope in that environment.

A lot of what families tell me is that things can really change when schools have training that helps them spot and respond to those needs earlier...

So it’s really encouraging when there’s space for these kinds of conversations alongside policy 🤞🏽🤞🏽

Well I wasn't expecting this 🥹 What started as a conversation about the growing number of neurodivergent children struggling to access school became something much more personal.

I'm genuinely touched by the kind things she shared about her family's experience of working with me and the difference the support has made for her daughter.

To hear someone speak so openly and generously about the work we’ve done together means more than I can say.

If you're currently navigating similar challenges with your own child, I hope this reminds you that the right support can make a real difference ✨

Sharing this as a perspective from someone with lived experience in conversations about autism.

Whether or not people agree with every point raised, I think it's important that conversations about autism include and value the voices of autistic people themselves. Research, clinical expertise, and lived experience all have a role to play, and we learn most when we listen to a range of perspectives.

Feel free to share your thoughts respectfully in the comments.

What if the child isn’t being difficult… but is struggling with something we cannot see?

Imagine being punished for struggling in a world that already feels too loud, too bright, too overwhelming

Sometimes, understanding changes everything ✨

Q3: 'How do I tell my child that they are autistic?'
Let's talk about it.

This is the third in a series answering the questions you ask most 😊✨

Save this for later if this is a conversation you're navigating right now

The problem isn't about our autistic children's differences. It’s about a world that too often expects them to fit into spaces never designed with them in mind.

We’ve created schools, systems, expectations, and social norms that leave so little room for children who experience the world differently.

So when parents say, “I would change the world for you,” I don’t hear “I want to change who you are.”

I hear...
I will try to make this world gentler for you.
Safer for you.
More understanding of you.
More accepting of you.

And honestly, that’s what autistic children deserve from all of us.
