𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 is a great reminder that it's never too late to take steps towards better health. 💙

Staying active as you get older can help you maintain your independence, improve your balance, strengthen your muscles and bones, reduce your risk of falls, and boost your mental wellbeing. 🚶‍♀️

The NHS recommends that older adults should:
• Aim to be physically active every day.
• Do activities that improve strength at least twice a week.
• Include exercises that improve balance and flexibility, especially if you're at risk of falling.
• Reduce the amount of time spent sitting by getting up and moving regularly. 💪

You don't have to join a gym to stay active. Walking, gardening, dancing, swimming, gentle exercise classes or even doing household chores all count towards a healthier lifestyle. 🌼

📢 Exciting Changes Are Coming!

We are pleased to announce that, following feedback from both patients and staff, Church View Surgery will be moving from Anima to SystmConnect for online consultations and requests from 30 September 2026.

SystmConnect will provide a simpler and more flexible way for patients to contact the practice online and access a range of services. We believe this change will help improve the experience of accessing support from the practice.

𝗕𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. 💙

Bowel cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the UK, but when it's found early, it's much easier to treat. That's why the NHS offers bowel cancer screening to people who are eligible. 💩

The screening test is simple, quick and can be done in the privacy of your own home. It looks for tiny amounts of blood in your poo that you may not be able to see yourself. 🏠

If you receive your bowel cancer screening kit through the post, don't put it to one side – complete it and return it as soon as you can. Even if you feel fit and healthy and have no symptoms, taking part in screening can help detect problems early. ✅

If you notice symptoms such as blood in your poo, a persistent change in your bowel habits, unexplained weight loss or ongoing tummy pain, don't wait for your screening invitation—contact your GP. 📞

Taking a few minutes to complete your test could make all the difference. 💙

You might know that sepsis is a serious condition, but were you aware that it is a reaction to an infection, and that it can be life-threatening?
🫁 If you think you have a chest or urine infection (UTI) - speak to your pharmacist or GP practice.
⚠️ When it comes to sepsis, trust your instincts. Dial 999 or visit A&E if you think there's something seriously wrong.
💊 Antibiotics can help prevent bacterial infections from developing into sepsis. That's why it's important to take antibiotics as prescribed and only when they are needed.

📬 Didn't return the flu consent form?

Sadly, that counts as no. It's the most common way children miss out on their flu vaccine. Not a decision, just a form that never made it back to the school immunisation team.

Here's what you need to know:
✅ Free at school, Reception to Year 11
✅ A quick, painless nasal spray, not an injection
✅ Saves your child a fortnight of coughs and missed school
✅ The form takes two minutes

There have been around 14 million consultations through the pharmacy first service since it launched in February 2024.

You can get treatment for these conditions from your local community pharmacist, including some prescription medicine, if needed – without you seeing a GP.

From this autumn, participating pharmacies will be able to assess and treat 5 additional common conditions:

- migraine in adults
- outer ear infections in adults
- acne in young people and adults
- mild skin infections and scabies
- seasonal allergic rhinitis in children
