Because when you have 56673 things to remember, who cares about the car door?

There is no shame in feeling anger. And I feel strongly that it’s our daughters who need to know this the most.

I caught this conversation this morning when taking Tiggy to nursery and filming a day in the life. She brought up the times she used to get so cross that she would throw things, so we talked about it. I do not want her to ever shame herself for those huge, overwhelming feelings, but instead, have awareness of them, feel comfortable with them visiting in times of need, and learn strategies to cope with them that don’t hurt others.

Other than a shoe (!) Tiggy hasn’t hurt me, but she has felt absolute rage when things have felt unfair to her little mind. And the fact is life is l, and will continue to be unfair sometimes. She won’t get what she wants. But she will gain the tools to feel, sit with it, become friends with her body and the many things it tells her.

She knows her body talks to her, and sends her messages, and that none of them are bad. They are signs for her to listen to ✨

THIS is how we break cycles and change the narratives, especially when it comes to angry women 🙌🏻

Taking three days off grid was the most perfect regulation space I needed. This was my third trip to this gorgeous spot, next to the water, surrounded by nature, sky and stillness.

It reminded me of the pandemic, when you couldn’t even hear the cars go by - everyone and everything had stopped and sometimes I find myself craving that again.

Life is so unbelievably fast paced. There is so much noise, clutter, rush, urgency, all of which tells ours nervous systems, constantly, that we shouldn’t relax. We’re pumping adrenaline like it’s going out of fashion, and then collapsing into exhausting, burnout and depletion.

This break was a total pause. A chance to breathe, slow down, cook over the fire and drink wine watching the sunset. Could my nervous system have asked for anything more!?

I have had 3 days off grid, away from the day to day. Immersed in nature, stillness, calm, birds, grass, trees, breeze, water, fire, sea and air.

My body feels regulated and thankful for a chance to re-set 💛

How are all the other working mums getting it all done? By the time I have dropped the kids off and done what I need to do, it leaves about 4 hours before it’s pick up time again! 🤯

I feel really lucky that I get to be around for so much of my kids’ lives - every drop off, every pick up, every meal time. It’s a big part of parenthood that I value and if you also love the be around while they are young, remember - just because it doesn’t pay, doesn’t make it any less important. Raising children is one of the most valuable jobs in the world.

As a mum of 3 who has been doing single handed school runs since 2022, I think we’ve definitely reached a stage where we know the rhythm of the morning! It used to be that I couldn’t leave Tiggy unattended when she was a tiny baby and the boys were 6 and 4 so needed a lot of extra help. Now, Ted’s often up before me, making breakfast and sticking the kettle on, Noah’s got his clothes on in good time and Tiggy’s always helping in some way too. Everything is temporary, nothing lasts forever, and that includes the good days!

Some of the things that have helped our morning is an earlier alarm, getting dressed before breakfast, encouraging their own independence for packing their bags, getting their snacks / drinks / helmets etc, and just surrendering to the chaos on those harder days.

What helps you on school run mornings?

After finishing my career as a professional dancer, with old injuries and a craving to learn more, I flew to Thailand - on my of my love affair countries - for a month of intensive Yoga Teacher Training. I came back and opened my own practice to share it, before moving online. Marriage, children and separation were all parts of the path that came next and yoga and all its teachings have been a constant anchor throughout.

Yoga taught me to…

👉🏻 Trust myself, my feelings and my intuition more powerfully than I can explain.
👉🏻 Be present when everything else in life is pushing me sideways
👉🏻 Use tools to regulate my breath and soften my body so that it feels calmer, more stable and more grounded
👉🏻 To use music to soothe me; you’ll never find me teaching without it. The way it supports our energy is so underestimated
👉🏻 To trust what is coming. Even when you find yourselves clinging on to the sides of the rollercoaster carriage, terrified of what’s ahead, yoga will teach you to trust.

If you want to lean on yoga to support you, calm you + regulate you, join my new 6 week live yoga course - REGULATE.

🧘‍♀️ Starting on Monday 8th June, we will meet online each week, 9.30am-10.45am for a guided yoga class. This will include breathwork, guided relaxations, journaling and community. Comment REGULATE below 👇🏻 to learn more 💛
