Our Training Manager, Claire Lynch, had a pleasure of working with Social Care Wales in Llandudno on 11 June, delivering a "Mental Health Awareness" session for their managers.

The session focused on practical tips and tools, and encouraged open conversations about looking after ourselves and supporting colleagues through day-to-day mental health challenges.

Did you know 50% of men have struggled with mental health difficulties at some point? Men’s Health Week UK (15-21 June) aims to raise awareness of men’s health, encouraging men to seek support for both their physical and mental wellbeing.

What can employers do to help?

- Promote open conversations: create a safe environment where employees feel comfortable discussing mental health
- Provide access to support services: e.g. employee assistance programmes, counselling or mental health resources
- Offer training for managers: help them recognise signs of poor mental health and respond appropriately
- Encourage work-life balance: e.g. flexible working options and wellbeing initiatives

It was our pleasure to deliver a 2-hour online training session on 'Mental Health Awareness' with staff from The Open University.

Together, we learnt about mental health and mental illness, and explored practical ways to support people around us. We also had an interesting conversation about stress, and how not all stress is a bad thing.

A big thank you to The Open University for your commitment to strengthening workplace wellbeing. We look forward to future collaborations!
