To keep yourself well in the sun, please stay hydrated, stay inside at the hottest parts of the day and top up sun cream if you do head outside.

If you become unwell, please contact NHS 111 in the first instance, who may direct you to an alternative healthcare setting for your care.

☀️ It’s getting hot out there, make sure you stay safe in the sun

Look out for the signs of heat-related illness in yourself and others:
⬇️
• Feeling dizzy, weak, sick or very thirsty? It could be heat exhaustion. Move somewhere cool, drink fluids and try to lower your body temperature.
• Painful muscle cramps? Rest straight away in a cool place and drink plenty of fluids. Seek medical advice if symptoms continue.
• A high temperature, confusion, fast breathing, skin that is no longer sweating or seizures could be heatstroke—a medical emergency. Call 999, place the person in the recovery position and try to cool them down.

This half-term, whilst your little ones are out and about enjoying a break from school, please bear in mind local healthcare support for under 18s should you need it.

There are other places in Swindon and Wiltshire that can treat children, so you don't always need to come to hospital.
