Today, I had the pleasure of supporting team members on Butlins Skegness. Working in such a busy environment can be tough on anyone, often team members don't have any family or friends locally as they moved to live on resort and start their new career, leaving their old life behind.

Through open conversations, we begin to look at what is on their minds, how we can support/signpost and what those next steps look like.

The way we talk about su***de can help challenge stigma – or unintentionally reinforce it.

Sometimes, phrases we’ve heard and used for years can carry judgement or make it more difficult for someone to talk openly about what they’re experiencing.

For World Su***de Prevention Day, we’re sharing some simple examples of language we can all use to make conversations about su***de more compassionate and supportive.

💛 This week, we’re changing the narrative on su***de.

Thursday marks World Su***de Prevention Day, an opportunity for us all to think about the way we talk about su***de, challenge stigma and create spaces where people feel able to speak openly about how they’re feeling.

Changing the narrative starts with conversation. It means moving away from silence and stigma and towards openness, understanding and compassion.

Throughout this week, we’ll be sharing ways we can all play a part – through the words we use, the conversations we start, the way we listen and the connections we make.

Because su***de prevention is something we all have a role in.
