Shaun, of Saxon Close in Upton, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday 10th June, aged 66.

A devoted husband of Jenny and cherished brother of Angela and Karen who will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Shaun's funeral service will take place at Pontefract crematorium on Monday 22nd June at 10.20am

Family flowers only please. Donations to the Stroke Association are respectfully requested in lieu of flowers. A collection box will be available outside the crematorium chapel after the service.

Following the service Jenny extends a warm invite to all who knew Shaun, to join her at Rogerthorpe Manor, where refreshments will be available.

In Loving Memory of John James Laird “Billy”

John, know to most as Billy, of Harewood Lane in Upton, passed away peacefully at Vicarage Court Nursing Home in Featherstone, on Thursday 4th June, aged 68.

A beloved partner of the late Julie. Treasured dad of Dawn & Mark and Catherine & Tim. Proud grandad of Jack, Callum, Lewis and Georgina, and soon to be great grandad. And a much loved brother of Kate and Dennis. Finally, a dear friend of many who will be missed by all who knew him.

Billy's funeral service will take place at Pontefract Crematorium on Monday 6th July at 1pm.

Attendees are not required to wear black. Instead they're welcome to dress smart and comfortably.

Family flowers only please. Donations to Hemochromatosis UK are respectfully requested in lieu of flowers. A collection box will be placed outside the crematorium chapel following the service.

After the service, Dawn and Catherine invite all who knew their dad to join them at the Crows Nest in Upton. Refreshments will be available.

Sharon, of Beech Street in South Elmsall, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday 31st May, aged 52.

A beloved daughter of Barbara and the late Jack. Cherished mam of Emma and Kieran. Much loved mother in law of Briony. Adored mamma of Callie-Grace and Emmie-May. Dear sister of Susan and Sarah. Wife of George and dear Friend to Paul Kirkham who will be missed by all who knew her.

Sharon’s funeral service will take place at Pontefract Crematorium on Thursday 2nd July at 11am.

Family flowers only please. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers. All proceeds will be gratefully received by the Prince of Wales Hospice. A collection box will be available after the service outside the crematorium chapel.

Following the service, Sharon’s family extend a warm invitation to all who knew her to join them at the Junction in South Elmsall where refreshments will be available.

Charlie, of Ash Grove in South Elmsall, passed away peacefully at Pinderfields Hospital on Friday 22nd May, aged 91.

A cherished dad and grandad who was loved by all and will be missed dearly.

Charlie’s funeral service will take place at Pontefract Crematorium on Tuesday 16th June at 11am.

A beloved wife of the late Malcolm. Loving mum of Janice, Dawn, Mark and Joanne. A dear nan of Glen, Lee, Jonathan, Matthew, Dale and Freya, and great nan of Bridie and Tyler. Also, a much loved mother in law of Glen and Tammy. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Joan’s funeral service will take place at Pontefract Crematorium on Monday 15th June at 11am.

Sadly passed away at St.James hospital on Wednesday 29th April after a long illness.
Beloved Dad to Daniel, Lauren, Thomas & Gemma. A very much loved Grandad to Lilah-Rose & George-Stephen, soon to be grandad to Louella-Jaine & A Dearly loved brother to Kevin Donna & Marie. And a very much loved son to John and the late Diana Bryan. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.

A private cremation will take place and we ask all who know Steve and his family to hold them in your thoughts at this difficult time.

Mavis, former resident of Warde Aldam Care Home in South Elmsall, passed away peacefully on Thursday 23rd April, aged 82.

A much loved mam of Paul and Lee. Cherished nannie of Emma, Hollee, Matthew, Chesney, Bethany, Ellie and Thomas. Also, a much loved great nannie who will be missed by all who knew her.

Mavis’ funeral will take place at Pontefract Crematorium on Friday 22nd May at 11.40am.

Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers can be left in the box outside the crematorium chapel after the service. All proceeds will be gratefully received by the Warde Aldam Residents’ Fund.

Following the service, refreshments will be served at the Empire WMC in Moorthorpe.

I just want to post a quick update to let you all know what we’ve been up to…

Most of you who know us know by now that we’ve taken over at Prohibition Bar & Grill (Previously The Electric Theatre at Ackworth).

Our aim is simple. We want to create a nice family oriented place for people to come and enjoy great food, drinks and more.

We’ve opened up the front part, the lounge, as Prohibition Bar & Grill. This area will be our dedicated restaurant and chilled bar area. Tonight we launch our first theme night. Each Wednesday the theme will change. Tonight it’s burger night.

In the back (previously the function room) we’ve created Jesters Sports Bar. A fun and friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy great food, drinks and fun with family and friends. We’ve fitted 4 dartboards (soon we will have interactive darts too), 2 pool tables and a 14ft shuffleboard. We show all the live sports you could imaging on Sky Sports, TNT Sports, Prime and PPV. 🎱⚽️🎯🏌️🥎

We’re especially committed to catering for people with allergies. People who know us know our story and why this matters. 100% of items on our menus are available gluten free. Other allergies just ask the question and we will endeavour to accommodate. 🫶

A polite reminder that the back of our premises is private property.

We’ve had a number of people wander down to where we keep our private ambulance and our rear access over the past few days.

Due to the sensitive nature of our business and the privacy and respect required we’d request that people do not enter the area.

Also, the road and entrance to the area is not a parking place and must be kept clear 24 hours a day so we can get our vehicles in and out at short notice.

CCTV does cover the entire area.
