Things you wouldn’t catch us doing to our own faces… 👀

Working in aesthetics definitely changes the way you look at treatments, and sometimes knowing when not to treat is just as important as knowing when to treat.

From chasing trends to assuming more filler will fix everything, these are 5 things we’d personally avoid when making decisions about our own faces.

Because our approach at FrownDocs has never been about doing the most. It’s about choosing the right treatment, for the right person, at the right time🤍

Which one are you guilty of? 😂

This is what ageing in reverse looks like… 👀✨

After losing 8 stone, Lesley was left with significant excess skin around her lower face and neck.

Following her customised facelift with Consultant Plastic Surgeon Mr John Biddlestone, the difference speaks for itself🥹

A more defined jawline, smoother neck and, most importantly, a result that still looks completely like Lesley🤍
And her results will continue to settle and refine as her healing progresses.

Why can losing weight sometimes make your face look older?
Significant weight loss can be hugely positive for someone’s health and confidence, but changes to the face aren’t always expected.

As facial volume reduces, the skin and underlying tissues don’t necessarily contract at the same rate. For some people, this can leave noticeable laxity through the lower face and neck, jowling or a loss of jawline definition.

And this is where choosing the right treatment for the right problem becomes important.

If the primary concern is significant excess skin, adding more filler or repeatedly treating the skin may not achieve what the patient is actually looking for. In appropriate patients, surgery may offer a more effective way of addressing the underlying concern.

Lesley’s journey is a brilliant example. After losing 8 stone, her concern wasn’t simply skin quality. It was the excess skin left around her lower face and neck.

A consultation with Consultant Plastic Surgeon Mr John Biddlestone allows you to understand what’s causing the changes you’re seeing and whether surgical or non-surgical treatment is most appropriate for you.

A little reminder from us to you🤍

There is no right way to age, no treatment you should have and no timeline you need to follow.

For us, aesthetics has never been about chasing perfection or trying to look like somebody else. It’s about choice, confidence and helping women feel like themselves, whatever that looks like for them.

Here’s to doing more of what makes you feel good in your own skin🫶🏼

What does support look like throughout your facelift journey? 🤍

For Jacs, it meant having someone holding her hand on surgery day, everything being explained to her, regular calls and messages in the days following her procedure, and a familiar face there to reassure her when she returned to have her stitches removed.

And, of course, the all-important post-surgery tea and toast☕️😂

From the moment she arrived for her customised facelift to the days and weeks that followed, Jacs says she felt “very well supported and very well looked after through the whole journey.”

Facial surgery is a big decision, and we believe the care surrounding your procedure matters just as much as the procedure itself.

Thank you, Jacs, for trusting Mr John Biddlestone and the FrownDocs team with your journey🤍

Trends come and go. Your face isn’t a trend.

There will always be a new treatment everyone is talking about, a new technique filling your feed or something promising to fix a concern you hadn’t even thought about until you saw it online.
But that isn’t how we practise at FrownDocs.

Being doctor-led means looking beyond what someone has come in asking for and considering their anatomy, skin, medical history, concerns, expectations and what will actually serve them well in the long term.

Sometimes that means recommending the treatment they had in mind. Sometimes it means suggesting something completely different. Sometimes it means explaining that surgery may achieve what repeated non-surgical treatments cannot. And sometimes it means saying that we wouldn’t recommend doing anything at all.

We have never believed that more treatment equals better treatment.

Our approach is simple: the right treatment, for the right patient, at the right time… and if that means saying no, we will!

Can laser treatments actually help with skin cancer prevention? ☀️

We often talk about laser treatments in terms of what we can see: clearer pigmentation, smoother texture, brighter skin and an improvement in the visible signs of sun damage.

But there’s a much more interesting conversation happening beneath the surface.

Long-term UV exposure can cause cellular damage within the skin and contribute to actinic keratoses, areas of precancerous sun damage that have the potential to develop into certain types of skin cancer.

Research into fractional laser resurfacing suggests that by treating chronically sun-damaged skin, stimulating renewal and reducing actinic keratoses, laser treatment may also have a role in helping to reduce the future development of certain non-melanoma skin cancers in appropriate patients.

At FrownDocs, Fraxel allows us to treat photodamage while encouraging the skin’s own repair and renewal processes. So while clearer, brighter skin may be the result you notice in the mirror, improving the health and quality of sun-damaged skin is an important part of the conversation too.

Of course, no laser replaces the fundamentals. SPF, sensible sun exposure, monitoring your skin and having suspicious or changing lesions assessed by a medical professional remain essential.

Because when we talk about investing in your skin, we’re not only talking about how it looks today. We’re thinking about its health for the future too🤍

Only 8 WEEKS post op… 🥹
And already such an incredible transformation for Sheena following her customised facelift with Consultant Plastic Surgeon Mr John Biddlestone.

Her goal was never to look different. She wanted to feel like herself again, with a more defined jawline, smoother neck and a natural result that still felt completely her!

And at just 8 weeks into the healing process, this is only the beginning. Her results will continue to settle and refine over the coming months.

In Sheena’s own words: “I feel like myself, just a better version of myself.”

Thinking about a facelift? This might just be your sign👀
