Pure Innovations

Pure Innovations Pure Innovations is a charity supporting people to live more independent, fulfilled lives.

We work alongside individuals to build confidence, develop skills and create opportunities through support, employment and community services. Pure became an independent charity following a TUPE transfer from Stockport Council in 2005. We are a values led, creative organisation and our objectives are to promote independence, increase choice and provide appropriate support to people to enable them

to make the most of their capacity and potential. In 1987 Employment Services was a part of Stockport Borough Council, providing employment opportunities and day care for people with a Learning Disability. We began a journey to modernise traditional day care across Stockport, moving away from larger institutions into smaller, community based settings. This move came from a strong belief in the philosophy that if we can support people to hold valued roles within communities then people with a disability would feel valued, and be recognised by others to have value. In 2005 we left the Local Authority and set up the charity Pure Innovations, continuing our vision to support a diverse range of people to live independent, healthy and valued lives in their communities. Today, we continue with our aim of supporting people to have a fulfilled life, with a sense of purpose and belonging. This can mean different things to different people and so Pure Innovations strives to provide a wide and varied offer, ranging from employment, volunteering and independent life skills to pursuing a variety of hobbies and interests. Our values have not changed over the years and have become a part of our DNA. We will be aspirational and believe in people’s ability to achieve amazing things even when they don’t believe it themselves.

Helen and Ellie visited Walthew House recently to record a session for their Stockport Talking Newspaper, all about our Stockport Community Hub πŸŽ™οΈπŸ’™

They chatted about the Hub, the support available and how Stockport residents can get involved, helping us spread the word to people who may benefit from the service.

Thanks to the team at Walthew House for having us! πŸ‘

In July our Pure College students enjoyed a fantastic few days away at Ormside Mill Residential Centre πŸ‘

There was plenty of mud, laughter and a few challenges but everyone gave the activities a go! Ghyll scrambling was the clear favourite this year, and it was great to see students encouraging each other and celebrating every achievement, no matter how big or small.

One student said they really appreciated that the instructors "knew my limits" and encouraged them without pushing too far, while several wanted to give a special mention to Steve for all of his support.

A big thank you to Greater Manchester Youth Federation, Jonathan and Steve for another brilliant residential. The countdown to next year has already started! πŸ’™

When Tristan and Bradley came along to our Our Future group, they were both hoping to make some new friends...

They hit it off straight away over their shared love of football and cycling, and since then they've been spending loads of time together including cycling, car shows, meals out and watching the football.

We hope you both have an amazing summer together πŸ’™

How has it already been a month since Access Festival?! πŸ’™πŸŽ‰

It honestly doesn't feel that long ago that we were dancing, singing, getting creative and celebrating together.

What makes Access Festival so special isn't just the activities, it's the people, seeing them make friends and enjoy themselves is what it's all about.

What was your favourite Access Festival memory? We'd love to hear it in the comments! πŸ’¬

Recently, our WoodShack group was contacted by a gentleman with a very special request... 🦜

Many years ago, his late mum had bought one of our handmade wooden bird feeders. After spending years in her garden, it had become worn by the weather, but it held so many happy memories that he wanted to restore it rather than replace it.

Our talented WoodShack team carefully repaired and refinished the bird feeder, taking care to bring it back to life.

When it was returned, he was so happy with the result that he sent us this photo of it back where it belongs, proudly displayed in his garden πŸ’™

After being made redundant from his role at The Botanist, David wanted to build his confidence, gain new skills and experience a different working environment.

He's now volunteering at The A World UK CIC, where he's developing valuable retail experience, meeting new people and becoming part of a supportive team. Along the way, he's rediscovered a sense of routine, purpose and confidence while continuing his search for paid employment.

David's sister, Divine, said:

"David is so happy to have started at A World and keeps saying how excited he is. He's really looking forward to making new friends and gaining some retail experience."

We can't wait to see what comes next for him πŸ‘πŸ’™
