☀️ With temperatures forecast to climb across parts of the UK next week, now is a good time for employers to think about sun safety.

While hazards such as noise, vibration and hazardous substances are often considered in workplace risk assessments, UV exposure can be overlooked despite the long-term health risks it presents to outdoor workers.

In our latest blog, we explore:
✅ The health risks associated with UV exposure
✅ Employer responsibilities for outdoor workers
✅ Practical control measures to reduce risk
✅ The importance of sunscreen, protective clothing and shade
✅ Creating a positive sun safety culture

📌 Case Conferences in Occupational Health: supporting complex workplace cases

When long-term absence or complex health issues make return-to-work progress difficult, a written Occupational Health report isn’t always enough on its own.

That’s where case conferences can help.

At Insight Workplace Health, our case conferences bring together the key people involved to support clearer understanding and better decision-making.

A case conference is a structured, clinician-led meeting between:
• The employee (and representative if requested)
• Line manager
• HR representative
• Occupational Health clinician

They are particularly useful when:
• Long-term absence is ongoing
• Adjustments haven’t achieved progress
• Cases are complex or multifactorial
• Clearer direction is needed to support return-to-work planning

The aim is simple: improve understanding, explore practical solutions, and support a safe and sustainable return to work.
