Meet Vernon, our very own social media whizz and holiday extraordinaire. From safaris in Africa to the Great Wall of China (China 😂), he's done it all!

Vernon didn't invite us to China (so rude)!! So here are some fun facts:
• It would take 12.5 MILLION Vernon's (estimated) to span the stretch of the Great Wall of China 🇨🇳
• Sticky rice was used as mortar to build The Great Wall of China 🍚
• China invented "ice cream" (snow, milk & rice) and toilet paper .. lucky for us Ostomy Mates 💩
• China's national animal is the Giant Panda. Pandas produce 100 droppings a day.. so maybe that's why the Chinese invented toilet paper 🐼

Ostomy Mates night out!

Friday was a wonderful evening of good food and good humour!

Fellow Ostomy Mate, Matt Forde was in town performing his comedy show Defying Calamity, who we were lucky to meet after!

Matt inspired many of us managing to find the humour within his own medical issues. Not only are we inspired by this, but we were also amazed with his realistic impressions of political figures.
. I'm sure if you ask nicely enough, one of us will attempt them at the next meet up 🤣💜

At our spring meeting Swindon’s Ostomy Mates Association paid tribute to Frank Williams, who has stepped down from the position of chairman after around 25 years of outstanding voluntary service. During his leadership the association has grown into a vibrant community that hosts regular social events, offers invaluable mutual support, and has raised significant funds for the hospital. The picture shows Frank acknowledging his special gifts of appreciation, with the committee looking on.

We will be holding our Spring meeting + Social on Sunday 22nd March at the Lawn Community Centre, Guildford Avenue, Swindon SN3 1JL. The committee and anyone who would like to help set things up to arrive at 13:00. Meeting to start at 14:00 and finish at 16:00 approx.
We will start with committee updates including the events calendar, accounts, discussions etc. This will be followed by social part with a raffle, buffet and ample time to socialise with friends old and new.

Reminder for our AGM & Christmas Social - on Sunday 30th November 2 – 5pm. Venue: Lawn Community Centre, Guildford Avenue, Swindon SN3 1LA. Following the meeting you can enjoy the afternoon with a raffle, nice buffet to share and savour, talk on AI, ostomy appliance exhibition and plenty of time to socialise with friends old and new!
